STM Decisive Blacklist (28)

STM Decisive Blacklist

Hey all!

I know a few of you have had budgets destroyed on Decisive because of a few bad targets. So I asked the guys at Decisive if they could send me over a list of most blacklisted targets. They kindly did.

You can download 100 of the top blacklisted apps and sites here.

------> https://www.dropbox.com/s/opni73is5w...klist.zip?dl=0

Now these aren't necessarily all bad, they are just the most blacklisted targets, so use at your own discretion.

Enjoy!

Grindr is a super strange placement. For me it is either HORRIBLE, and rips through my budget, or works ok. Very strange.

Ha yeah because a guy about to get laid, gay or straight, could care less about a Free Ipad Air 2.

Why do this? Make people pay for data like the rest of us. Also, this isnt all that bad cause some of my most profitable placements are on the list. With that, I think its bad because newbies will just blindly blacklist these and not learn the value of testing, therefore never testing these 100 sites, therefore never learning how to really find a profitable target.

Does it help, really, or is it more of a crutch that prolongs the learning experience, or worst causes the affiliate to never learn?

It was in learning WHAT placements were bad and WHY they were bad that has helped me optimize on any traffic source, now. Having this list as a complete noob would have seriously stunted my growth.

Im still a noob, btw.

Helps the people with a small budget definitely. I tried a dsp and burned $200+ and there are still bullshit placements coming.
Not a problem for me tho since I had a good budget but people with a budget of $1000 might face some money problems then.

The blacklist only has 200 targets out of thousands that are on Decisive. New targets pop up daily. You will still have to go through the same optimising process as you would without the blacklist. This list will just help STMers minimizes the chances that their budgets don't get wiped out by rouge placements. There are thousands of placements that won't be profitable for some campaigns, optimising will 100% need to be done.

Yup, I have the same experience with Grindr. It's either horrible or pretty darn good.

As far as I can tell from testing, the traffic quality is actually really good (very few bots), it's just that anyone actively using Grindr is kinda... focused.

I don't think so.

If anything, I think starting off on crap placements can destroy the learning experience. There are plenty of things that a beginner needs to learn, and if your first experience is on crap placements, you don't even get data on which you can optimise and improve.

thank you!

most of the placements on the spreadsheets matches up with apps i blacklist on decisive.

02-10-2015 04:53 PM #17 cz_voyager (Member)

Thanks a lot!

Just be careful you can't remove a placement from a blacklist! Luckily it's not global but just for a specific ad (=campaign).

02-12-2015 07:57 PM #18 Andrea Decisive (Member)

Hi cz_voyager,

Anything you blacklist (even if blacklisted from the batch blacklist) can be un-blacklisted. Just uncheck the box on live reports.

If you still have questions just let me know.

02-25-2015 05:09 PM #19 htosto (Member)

can I batch blackist based on the excel file?

03-21-2015 08:58 PM #20 rubenskitchen (Member)

Great share, thanks!

@htosto:

#1 - Open file in Excel or similar, you might have to configure the delimiter to properly separate the columns.
#2 - First column (A) should be url-decoded before adding its content to the batch blacklist in Decisive. You can use http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/dencoder for url-decoding.

Can somebody verify that the top 100 sites csv only contains 48 records? It seems like half of it is missing.

Also the top 100 apps csv contains non ASCII characters like µ and ® (utorrent and bitcomet). If you don't remove these from the list importing will not work because of an 500 internal server error (ajax control keeps loading).

Hi @rubenskitchen thank you for the tip. You answered another question that I about to ask he2.

Hi everyone,

Need some help.

When I did a "Batch blacklist apps or sites" with this example

Ad ID : Grindr_Android_320x50
Apps or Site : App

It shows this error "Ad ID is invalid"

or check the screenshot here

Name:	kuYrxbV.jpg
Views:	103
Size:	9.6 KB
ID:	6119

Any idea what's wrong?

And it seems I have to do it 1 by 1? I thought batch means the whole thing at 1 time?

Any help? Thanks.

@ericchuawc

Hover over the small "?" symbol after AD ID in Decisive. What does it say?

03-24-2015 02:17 PM #24 Andrea Decisive (Member)

@ericchuawc

It looks like you are putting the placement name in the "ad id" field. The ad id the unique code for each campaign so we know which campaign you are submitting a blacklist for.

You can find the ad id by looking at the main page and pressing "more". Then choose whether you are blacklisting apps or sites and paste in your list.

Hi Andrea,

My campaigns have just been approved but still in pause mode. Can I actually blacklist those ad ids before I run any campaigns? Or like you said, the placement "Grindr_Android_320x50" may have different ID for each campaign?

Do you have screenshot on how to press the "more" button? I can't seem to find it. Thanks.

03-25-2015 04:23 AM #26 Andrea Decisive (Member)

Hi @ericchawc

Yes, you can blacklist before starting a campaign.

Ad id = the code of a campaign
Grindr_Andriod_320x50 = placement that can be blacklisted

You want to take the ad id and blacklist a placement on it. If you would like to find your ad id in Decisive 1)look at the directions found under the question mark on your screenshot (as srinivasan mentioned) or go to paused and click on more under your campaigns.

Grindr_Andriod_320x50 will not have different codes. It is a placement. So you just need to take the name "Grindr_Andriod_320x50" to blacklist it.

The order I would suggest is:

1) click on "paused".
2) click "more"
3) copy the "ad id" for the campaign you would like to add a blacklist to
4) go to https://app.decisive.is/batch-blacklist/
5) paste the "ad id" in the "ad id" field
6) Select "apps" (because "Grindr_Android_320x50" is an app)
7) click "Submit"
8) paste in placements (in this case apps) that you want to blacklist ie. Grindr_Android_320x50
9) click "save"

It worked thanks andrea

Any way can I apply the blacklist to global campaigns? Else I have to do 1 by 1 for each campaign
