curtis Facebook Gaming Follow Along Entry FBC1

I'm definitely going to participate in this contest. I figure what the hell, I've got a lot learn and I haven't tried pushing anything in the games niche. I found an offer on EWA I'm going to try pushing. It's a 2d side scrolling MMORPG that looks pretty slick. The only problem is the offer only currently supports DE, AT, CH traffic. I'm going to start with finding out what those countries are (DE = Denmark?) I've already started on some images to use. I have 13 in-game screenshots so far. I'm going to use two versions of these screenshots, one will be the unaltered image and the other will be the same image with a "play" or "play now" button on it. I'm excited to get going!

I think I made a pretty good find! When I was checking out the site for the game, I was able to find a fan site kit that had a lot of good media that I can utilize in my images.

DE = Germany
AT = Austria
CH = Switzerland

Yea I totally just saw the "Country List" link on the EWA site and came back to update my post lol. Thanks!

I think i'm going to target Switzerland first and see how that goes.

I'm not finding any english to swiss-german translation services/sites so I think I may go with Germany.

Did you check onehourtranslation.com? I can't remember the rates but it's not bad

I hadn't, I'll check them now.

swiss=german...it's the same written language

That's what I thought but some random sites were telling me that in Switzerland they speak a somewhat unique dialect of German, what they called Swiss German. That threw me off but I think I'll try just German and see how that works. Thanks for setting me straight.

Just remember to use the language option in Facebook when targeting to Swiss, Netherlands etc.

@august55 : I don't get it why needed to target language option in promoting gaming offers ?

Beeing a swiss guy you can go with "normal" german in your ads. No need for our swiss accent's ;-) And you probably reach more people with targetting Germany instead of Switzerland...

Why don't you ask some of our German members? We're here to help each other.
Your adcopy looks good but the headline doesn't make any sense. Change it to "Das beste MMORPG 2011!" (the best MMORPG of 2011).

if you use google transalation, grammatical error will cause your ad not approve. FB are very strict on grammar

Thanks for the suggestion! I didn't want to be too presumptuous by asking for help. I've changed that copy on all of my ads: Here are the two ad copies I'm using:

title: Das beste MMORPG 2011!

and

title: Beste MMORPG 2011

If this isn't German that makes any sense, feel free to let me know! I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

title: Beste MMORPG 2011
title: Bestes MMORPG 2011

Changing, Thanks again!

Well all of my ads got rejected. The reason they gave me was: "The content of this ad does not accurately reflect the product or service advertised. Ads must clearly disclose what actions are required to receive the product or service. The landing page must also explicitly state to what extent a user's information will be used or distributed. Before resubmitting your ad, please visit our Help Center for additional information and examples compliant with our Advertising Guidelines."

There seem to be a lot of ads similar to mine when I look through FB Spy so I'm going to resubmit these and see if they make it through a second time.

maybe it was because of the grammatical errors because the ad should be fine so far..if you need high quality translations i would suggest using http://www.onehourtranslation.com/ (you'll get a perfect translation within a few minutes) or ask some of the german members here ;-)

correct language:

title: Das beste MMORPG 2011!

and

title: Das Beste MMORPG 2011

if you want to add a call to action like "Play Now!" you can use "Jetzt Spielen!"

Thanks for the translation assistance!

Something interesting I noticed is that with non-Germany-based requests, the link I was using was redirecting to a completely unrelated offer and page. I wonder if the Facebook checkers where getting that page and wondering what it had to do with my copy. Just to be sure, I'm going to have these ads go through my site first so I can ensure they get sent to the right lander. After the ads get approved I can change up my site to send the users to the proper destination.
