How I changed my outlook and increased profits by 500%

Thanks to cmdeal, I've been doing a lot of reading, and a couple of the books he recommended really helped me bank hard. I followed the advice from these books, took action, and thanks to that I am now doing better than before.

I wrote a really long story about this on my blog here [read it here if you have time]

But for those who want the goods... here are the books..

1. All marketers are liars by Seth Godin

This book is the golden info for guys like you and me who believe in ethics and honesty. It teaches how to sell whatever offer you push to your demographic, by “FRAMING” a story which these people already believe and agree with. Interesting? HELL YA. so read that book right away

2. Cashvertising

This is the BIBLE of advertising, I say read this after the book above because then you will be able to get more out of it. There’s a reason why so many affiliate margeting legends read this book many times.

3. The Adweek Copywriting Handbook by Joseph Sugarman *thx for this too cmdeal!!*

Like above this is a must read guys because it has things in it that work, and work so well, you won’t believe the result. (think RON buy, and 80% of your placements converting, yea the UNICORN baby!! just like what testosterone wrote about!)

4. The E-Myth Revisited: Why Most Small Businesses Don’t Work and What to Do About It

This book is very helpful if you are a big practioner of systems, and having a team (or outsourcing your work so you don’t waste time on stupid crap)… READ IT… APPLY IT..

Very interesting - thanks!

I've not read the Seth Godin one, although I've read a couple of others by him. My mileage with Mr Godin has been variable, but when he's good, he's very good.

The E-Myth Revisited is really good, particularly if you're building a team. And obviously Ca$hvertising is great.

I ordered all, and added 'Scaling Up: How a Few Companies Make It...and Why the Rest Don't'.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Books can definitely change people's lives!
Since reading books like Think and Grow Rich, Awaken the giant Within and How to Win Friends and Influence People, I look at life very differently than before, and I mean it in a good way.

Understanding human behavior and psychology is something all marketers should study and learn.

My new books including Cashvertising should arrive in a few days. Can't wait to read them!

Anyone has any good book recommendations about managing a team ( organising / creating processes / motivating etc ) ?

Great post Attila!!
Those are great books, have not read Adweek though!
On my kindle for the next flight now! thx

Also had a question conerning the article, but I'll post it in your blog comments

@bbrock

Asked some entrepreneurial friends the same, got those. Read them sometime ago, from what I remember they are great!

1. Work the System (Sam Carpenter)
2. The E-Myth Revisited (Michael E. Gerber)

Also from starting to look into outsourcing I got those books on my kindle (not sure how good they are, have not read them yet)

- Topgrading, 3rd Edition (Bradford D.)
- Outsource: The ultimate guide to smart outsourcing (Phebe Pearson)
- Outsourcing Master: How to build a Thriving... (Steve Scott)

I find books always give me too many options of things i can do for my business.

How long does it take you to take action from a book to the point where you see an actual return?

It really depends on the book.

The all marketers are liers.. next day i took action and it worked amazingly.

Emyth... way longer as i had to place a very specific ad.. wait for applicants..interview them well.. to find my best guy for each segment of the team..

The three best books on this topic are

High Output Management by Andy Grove

The Goal by Eli Goldratt

@bbrock32 - Peopleware by Tom DeMarco and Timothy Lister. Best book on tech management that I've ever read. Everything from motivation to setting deadlines to office layout. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Peopleware-P.../dp/0932633439 .

Also, the Mythical Man Month by Fred Brooks is old, but still very worth reading: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mythical-Man...3308489&sr=1-1

Finally, not a book, but everything Joel Spotsky ever wrote about management - http://www.joelonsoftware.com/ - is bloody marvellous. In particular, his work on scheduling is pretty much a primer on "how to finally have a software project that runs more or less to schedule".

Awesome! Something I'm truly passionate about: books (after AM of course ) - I read about 4 books a month.

Lots of great book recommendations!

Just don't forget Petrarch's wise observation, however, that:

It's not important how many books you have on top of your bookshelf.

What's important is how many books you have inside your head.
