I'm not sure how leadpages.net works, but isn't that the point of offering free stuff to get opt ins? I think it's standard and common sense for your goal to ask people to opt in and only after that to send them the goodie. Am I missing something here?
@backslash,
My wording must have been complicated .... and this is really only for leadpages nerds :-)
TRADITIONAL LEADPAGES SETUP:
- you create a landing page
- you upload your lead magnet (e.g. eBook)
- you connect it to your email service provider (e.g. MailChimp)
If you do it the traditional way, a user who enters his email address gets immediately the digital asset delivered by leadpages.net.
AFTERWARDS, he gets another email from MailChimp saying he needs to opt in.
Of course, since he has already received the digital asset, there's little incentive for him to opt in.
Thus, the user got his digital asset BUT YOU DON'T HAVE his email address.
Thus my solution (above).
I've never used leadpages, but the way I setup Aweber on my campaigns is that they need to double opt in before receiving the ebook so this never happens. I normally use Optimize Press.
I'll keep this in mind in case I want to use Leadpages though.
