Let's get started (21)

Let's get started

This is my first campaign in Adwords. I launched a couple ones in Facebook but have yet to make any real money.

This is using Livelinks thru RingPartner and I'm following Attila's guide closely but I changed the keywords and kept the cities.

It is set at $25 a day until I start seeing some profit. Which I doubt bc this is my first campaign. But let's have some faith in me, eh?

I plan on running several campaigns through this thread and hopefully I can start making some cash soon. I also got a job as a server to support my testing budget so you know I'm serious about this shit. How are some guys spending $1,000,000 on advertising?? My budget as of now is about $500 and once I start working I'll have a total of about $2-3k and about $5k over summer. Hopefully I can make somewhere in 20-30% in ROI over this time-period.

I'll keep y'all updated

Sounds very good!

You're right - your first campaign probably won't make you money.

But it's the persistence that matters in AM - keep launching, and before you know it, you'll have a campaign that does make you $$$.

First day stats:

$8.38 Cost
8 Clicks
249 Impressions
CTR - 3.21%
AVP CPC - 1.05
Calls - 42 (????)
With Commissions - 8
Earnings - $13.60

Profit - $5.22

These stats are a little off. Google might be delayed. Or people are calling the number without clicking through which is cool. But I'm using HostGator for my first campaigns until I get comfortable optimising and launching (the basics) before I get into more advanced stuff like tracking and scaling.

Profit on your first day - nice!

Hey, good luck, you sound super serious! The fact that you are in the green day one is a telling sign that your approach is healthy. The little you have can go a long way especially with such great early results... Eat at the restaurant too... Each meal is a day's campaign!

That CTR!!!! Are you bidding on their brand name?

02-05-2015 02:44 PM #9 dalvarezss11 (Member)

No man, just little "+chat +line +city"

I don't know how to take screenshots with my new laptop so once I figure it out I'll post some

Day 2 stats:

Clicks - 46
Impressions - 1092
CTR - 4.21%
AVG CPC - 1.02
Cost - $46.80
Total Calls - 116
W/ Commissions - 19
Profit - -15.50

I think I may have to lower my CPC because 1.02 on a n offer that pays out is just not profitable. I upped my spending which increased my revenue but my CPC is killing me.

The reason being, in Attila's Case Study he says to use a bid of .30 but a 300% adjustment for mobile hence the 1.00 CPC. I'm going to decrease the adjustment and see what happens.

Day 3 stats

Clicks - 43
Impr. - 647
CTR - 6.65%
AVG CPC - .96
Cost - $41.47
Total Calls - 66
Revenue - $15.30

~$25

I think my stats are good, but the CPC is killing me. Still trying to fix this.

1. Lower CPC
2. Change keywords to ones with less comp.
3. Get more creative with angles

Those are my 3 main options right now. Will try #1 right now.

You have good CTR, that's for sure... Keep at it man! I'm also running a ppcall offer myself, and also trying to get it profitable.... All the best to you man!

02-07-2015 11:11 AM #13 caurmen (Administrator)

I'd recommend a fourth option too - look at pushing your CVR up. You've clearly got some strong interest in your ads - can you convert that to more desire before they go to the offer?

02-07-2015 04:32 PM #14 dalvarezss11 (Member)

Day 4 stats

Clicks - 82
Impr. - 1305
CTR - 6.28%
AVG CPC - 0.58
Cost - $47.45
Total Calls - 70
With Commissions - 9
CVR - 13%
Revenue - $15.30

02-07-2015 04:33 PM #15 dalvarezss11 (Member)

I lowered my CPC even more today and so far at noon I'm at break-even. Will try some of the aforementioned tactics as well.

Brainstorm sesh...how would I go about getting my CVR up?

02-08-2015 06:15 AM #16 dalvarezss11 (Member)

Day 5

Clicks - 96
Impr. - 1909
CTR - 5.03%
AVG CPC - $0.35
Cost - $33.35
Total Calls - 126
With Commissions - 18
CVR - 14%
Revenue - $30.60

So, I doubled my revenue and cut my expenses by $10 yet failed to be green by $3. I will lower my CPC one more time and see how it does, it seems to have had no effect on my campaign. Once I get that settled, I will try to push up my conversion rate.

I did some minor brainstorming and found some ideas

1. Include a text detailing the process of the call. This way people know what to expect and may cause them to be on the phone for a longer amount of time, thus more conversions.
2. Will try to include pictures in a different landing page and see how that does.
3. Include words like "x amount of singles in your area looking for an adventure tonight" or "x amount of hotties looking for some fun tonight"

Generally looking for words that might cause people t think that they might be something beyond the call, because it COULD happen that they meet up and bang. Just playing around with ideas, and people's imaginations.

Ciao.

Scratch that, I was $1 away from being profitable yesterday. A commission came in around midnight. I think RingPartner has a 3 hour delay when posting payouts.

For instance, today I have 6 conversions according to Google, but none in RingPartner. Yesterday Google showed 13 and RingPartner 18. So I really just have to wait until 3AM to summarize a day.

Anyways, I recently dropped my current bid to underground levels and the campaign is doing extremely awesome. Wondering how far down I can push my current max cpc. I expect today to be my first real profitable day. Then my plan is to target conversion rate through my ad & landing page. But I will test one at a time to obtain tangible results.

All about that Ceteris paribus when testing shit.

Things were just getting juicy! Any updates?

03-21-2015 11:42 AM #19 taewoo (Member)

@dalvarezss11- Are you using call treatment? and when you said "underground levels" bid.. can u share what that is? I've gotten it down to about $0.20 and that's about the lowest before I start losing impressions.

@RingPartner - Two questions

1. I saw your video on call treatments but I still can't a grasp of how they're like landing pages. Do you have specific examples? Would love to hear one in person.

2. How much a CVR boost can you expect from having a call treatment vs. calling direct?

3. I notice a BIG discrepancy b/w google conversion tracking and conversions reported by RP. Approx 25% to be exact. Is this from lead scrubbing?

Any updates?

04-07-2015 06:31 PM #21 ringpartner (Member)

@taewoo,

1) Call treatments or an IVR, can be set up on your side to help qualify and guide callers so that you monetize every call. Example (Press 1 for......, Press 2 for......, Press 3 for.....)

2) I don't really have a specific number that it would increase. A call treatment will help the user experience and filter out callers that are not qualified. Ultimately the conversion will increase.

3) There is no lead scrubbing. The difference is based on how a conversion is calculated. RP conversion is on the connected duration of the call.
