Hey, so my goal is to quit my 9-5. It's a great job, love the environment, love the culture, but at the end of the day I want to own a business. I can see how running a ton of campaigns in the future would be extremely hard for me to even still have a 9-5.. EVEN if I outsourced..
My question is, when do you decide that it's time to quit your 9-5? When do you know? Is it based on if you surpassed what you make from work? Is it based on how many successful campaigns you have? What if you had one campaign but made 1k a day off of it? Is it a bad idea to quit because it's just one campaign? Should it be after multiple successful campaigns ranging from $20-$200 a day each campaign?
Just trying to think this out.. Thanks.
I think it all depends on your personal lifestyle and expenses, as well as what kind of income goals you want to reach. I would definitely not quit on one successful campaign or an income that is just covering your basic expenses.
This business can be extremely volatile so you need to be prepared for big swings.
Personally, I quit 10+ years ago but not without first having my own products and other solid sources of income (investments, etc.)
Just be sure you're completely honest with yourself about what you're willing to do in a worst case scenario before dropping the 9-5.
Charles Ngo has a good write-up on this: http://charlesngo.com/leaving-job/
I suggest you think of leaving your job for AM
1. once you are making several times in AM vs. what you make in your day job
AND
2. if time REALLY is what is preventing you from even greater success
Many people think time is what is keeping them from succeeding, but 9 times out of 10, that is not true.
