I have a client call me and ask if I can track calls. I have known of twilio for some time and know you can use it as a call tracker, but I dont know of how reliable it is.
I also checked out a company called http://www.analyticcalltracking.com/features/ that looks like it sits on top of twilio. Has anyone run their own call tracking lead gen service before without going through a affiliate network?
Thank you.
I've not set this sort of thing up myself (yet - it's on the to-do list) but Twilio certainly have a superb reputation.
They're pretty much the go-to company in the startup world for anything phone related.
I've had great experiences with twilio. I've used their API extensively to automatically send and receive sms messages. The amount of stuff you can do through their API is stellar!
I didn't use it to track calls, but I can vouch for the quality of the service.
I can confirm the excellent service @ Twillio
PS: don't use it for mobile phone verification with Facebook or Google. It doesn't work :-(
@hobbstein - I have used ACT and frankly, it is disappointing. They are a great group of guys and are the only ones I know of that offer a self-hosted call tracking platform that sits on Twilio, but ACT has to do a major overhaul and they know it.
@tbranley Thanks for the input.
Twilio has basic call tracking built right in. If you need an interface for clients or some more bespoke functionality, like tracking variables, you'll likely need a developer who can work with their API, but that is pretty straightforward and there are plenty of experienced devs at Odesk and the like

I have. I built out a whole solution for my own call center. IVR, tracking, SMS automation, etc.
Feel free to ask.
Also, Nexmo and Plivo are similar. Cheaper too (for certain countries)
If anyone's a developer and were wondering hwo to debug... Twilio has a debug page where show you your server output. If i knew that, I would've saved DAYS worth of headache and frustration
PS: Yes.. most of these call analytics software companies are sitting on top of these phone API companies. you do pay a hefty markup for their SaaS solution, obviously
