It's exactly that. The domain and the path/folder

So www.gridtimer.com/YourFolder/index.html

One more simple question, would you recommended buying a new domain name for each landing page or do you find that unnecessary?

Unnecessary. You can always create a subdomain if you want.

So would be like auto.gridtimer.com/offer123/index.html

And put all your auto related offers there.

For example, so if my original domain name was www.johndoe.com and I create a subdomain named dating101.johndoe.com.
It would be dating101.johndoe.com/offer123/index.html

However, wouldn't I want my lander domain name something totally different? For instance dating101.todaysfantasy.com/..... due to the fact the original link address doesn't sound relevant?

Also, because if your lander domain was "dating101.johndoe.com/offer123/index.html"
Couldn't any user just go to www.johndoe.com and steal all your landers/images and so forth?
