Can any full time Affiliate on here be my mentor - Everything explained in the thread

Hey guys. I know that 1 on 1 mentoring isn't too popular here and I fully understand why. Follow alongs are like mentoring in a way (I had a follow along and it was great), and no one is just going to hand out their profitable campaigns to someone who won't put in the work. Anyway, I saw that Charles Ngo is launching coaching in a few months so I thought I'd ask and see if anyone would be willing to coach/mentor me sooner than that. Let me explain why I believe I'm an actual valid candidate for coaching:

Just graduated college, have a few options. BUT, I convinced my parents that this has potential and they said they'd let me work on it full time 9-5 for 4 months. The other option is studying for the GMAT 9-5 for the next 4 months and getting my Finance MBA. But I KNOW that I can become profitable working Affiliate Marketing for 4 months 9-5. But I also know the benefit of having a successful full time Affiliate guiding me in the right direction. We could plan out a super productive schedule, go over my ads, angles, offers, landers, data and just basically speed up the process of my path to profitability.

Again, I'm not looking for someone to give me a profitable campaign. I've made profitable campaigns myself (very short lived on POF). And I'm not a total newb looking for someone to help me set up tracking, or teach me how to use Adobe Muse. I'm past that stage. I'm looking for a mentor who can make these next 4 months the most efficient they can possibly be. 9-5 Affiliate Marketing for 4 months, with a mentor/coach - I will reach a few hundred dollars a day. Obviously, this would be paid, and I have a pretty big budget (10,000) for testing.

This is probably as close as you can get from this forum: http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...l=1#post202985

So far, I've only seen how the mentorship benefits you, but not the prospective mentor. Perhaps you could elaborate.

Well I would be paying the mentor. Or perhaps instead of paying the mentor I could provide a service of help to the mentor that would offer more value than cash. Some people on here make thousands a day so I obviously wouldn't be able to match that, but I do know some people teach and help others as a reward in itself - sort of giving back after reaping benefits of their particular industry. Not saying that's what I'm expecting but I've read some very successful people teach and help others for that reason. Heck one of my college professors was a former CEO of a Fortune 500 company and easily worth a billion. But as for tangible benefits, I'll either pay straight up or provide an online service like writing, design or be a VA.

Yeah you should DEFINITELY sign up for that, especially while it is in heavily discounted beta.

You will be learning ftom zeno himself! He is a legend.

Nothing beats the school of hard knocks. Learn from failures

Launch as many campaigns as you can...test..test..test

Rinse and repeat.

This, exactly.

Also, if you only have four months, work on campaigns from 9-5, then spend 5-12 reading every single thing you can on these forums.

I would advise against giving yourself a 4 month window to "crack this."

Unless you absolutely need this to pay off to survive, that self imposed deadline may make you take unnecessary risks and lose money unnecessarily that you could have otherwise saved.

$10k is definitely enough to get started, but it is by no means unlimited funding. It can run out quickly in AM.

The problem with coaching is almost always that the student wants to shift the responsibility from ''self'' to the coach.

''Just show me what to do. I'll work 16 hours a day. I'll do whatever you say''

The mechanics of building, optimizing and scaling campaigns are quite simple and anyone can master it within a few months.

However, the mindset...the creativity...the tenacity. How do you teach that to someone? IMO these are things you have to learn by doing, failing, learning and doing.

There's nothing wrong with wanting coaching. The real question is what do you expect from a coach?

I don't think anyone here would guarantee you to reach a certain goal. There are just too many variables. The end result is that you may spend a lot of $$ on coaching without the financial result you where hoping for.

Any good coach would probably not show you what you think you need (''a great campaign(s)''). A good coach would probably need to work on your mindset, your attitude towards campaigns ec. but not many people would pay $x,xxx/hour for that!?

I would suggest you refine your request for a coach and be more specific on what you want. You might get a better response.
for example:
I am currently focusing on Adult. I've tested $x,xxx on adult dating without any real success. I am looking for a private coach/mentor to help me master adult dating. 1hour/day on Skype ec.

Instead of saying I'm here...come give me the traffic sources, verticals and everything I need to be successful

Hope that helps

I think what Charles and Zeno are offering this year is great, for 2 reasons;

1. It gives newbies the initiative to take action and start launching campaigns right away
2. Guidance on the right way to do things. The information overload on AM is outrageous, with so many blogs, tips, tricks, white papers etc, it's so easy for someone to get caught up and just be overwhelmed by everything. By having a single person lay down the basics and be a guide on where to go from there can be a lifesaver, then the creativity and mindset will develop from there.

I think there is a high demand for this kind of mentoring, and I can see a lot of the A players offering this type of thing sooner rather than later.

Ok thanks for the honest replies guys. I appreciate it. I guess I can translate my question to this:

I did POF for a few months and reached break-even while working on it after school for a few hours, but got really frustrated with the lack of volume and decided to give it a rest and graduate. Now I've been given the window to work on this full time and really take huge action. I'm weighing whether I should move to IAB's on POF (which I'm only a few hundred away from) and am under the impression they can DRAMATICALLY increase my results, or start from scratch and switch to Mobile. Are there any successful affiliates who could be a consultant for me and help me personally with one of these avenues?

I already had looked at Zeno's 6 week course, and it really looks great, but up until week 4 or 5 I think I've done all that stuff before. It seems to be geared a little towards the beginner with regards to getting everything set up and launched, then analyzing tracking.

FWIW, I'd definitely give IABs a go on POF. You already know the ropes there, and as you say, there's a lot more volume available.

Ok cool thanks Caurmen I was thinking the same thing. I'll pick up where I left off in my Follow Along

as a newbie who hit ok goals in less than 6 months, I think you shouldn't focus on finding a mentor.

Get your ass in a mastermind, and don't look for some outside help. the pros here said, launch as much as you can, I can give you the newbie perspective that it's true, launch shit until somethings blows up from my experience.

or join zeno's program, but I still recommend the good ol' blast it with campaigns attitude :P
