I wanted to do paid traffic etc but alast night involved a thorough review of my financial situation and paid traffic is on stand by for the time being . This has lead me to considering SEO traffic. I know its a different basket to be dealing with but was wondering how should a beginner stay on top of things.
For example lets say I start a site that is pushing some affiliate product. I do my research and set it up to the best of my ability. From here on how do you stay up on top of what is happening in the SEO world and how the changes affect your page.
With my limited knowldege it feels the SEO world is ever changing and I am unsure how people stay in it and do well .
Thanks in adavnce for any tips or advice.
SEO is really different from paid traffic, that's not the same mentality at all.
As Google evolved over the years, SEO became more and more a cat and mouse game.
If you want to start with SEO and have a chance to survive, I suggest you do not build one website, you will have to build hundred of them. That's the only way to stay in the game when Google will (and man, it will !) kill some of them.
I said it will and not he will, because you also have to understand that Google is just a bot, it doesn't give a shit about your website and will love it or hate it depending on a minor change in the algorithms.
As you just start, you should make a lot of small websites targeting Long Tail and Middle Tail keywords on the market you want to promote.
You will have to find a way to get backlinks, I suggest you use expired domains as that's what people do these days.
I've been in SEO for more than 10 years now, years ago I was on top adult keywords, now I really on the Long Tail only. But I've made a constant $XX,XXX profits a months for years, killed several times along the way and adapt to reborn and rebuild.
Take on thing in consideration, SEO vs Paid Traffic is Time vs Money. If you do not have money, SEO is the way to go, but be sure you will spend the time it need to build there (way more than Paid).
For expired domains go to moonsy.com or domcop.com. You can get those via GoDaddy or Namejet, but good expired domains will cost money as well.
I build up a small network right now to be able to sell backlinks to clients. i know a few guys who do this already and it works. I am building up two side-projects via SEO atm, and all the keyword-optimized writing etc - even if you buy content you usually need to rework it - takes up a shitload of time.
Viperchill.com is a good place concerning SEO Tips etc.
Awesome, thanks for the info. I am in the keyword research stage at the moment and have been advised to ensure my keywords have more than 3000 average searches p/month and up to 50'000 ish …are these valid metrics to use ? or should I disregard these metrics altogether ?
