Managing an agency - questions.

Hi Guys,

New to STM, lurking and trying to absorb as much info as I can. Time to post some Q&A regarding Agency account.

Background: We have a legit marketing company front with a wide range of offline clients. On the aff side, we reach out directly to advertisers. We have our funnel of traffic but it's now time to expand into the FB world because 95% of advertisers have internal social media team, but this won't stop us from blending in sales.

I never use FB don't even have an account so when I called sales I played it dumb. They offer a program called FB go, spend 750$ a month for a client and they offer support and help optimize that campaign for that first month. I knew about this and decided I would use this angle because I would get support for setup and answers to some questions, and I could also test all these small things like IPs, logins, setting changes and never have to worry about getting banned because I am new and learning business manager and my rep is guiding me for the first month.

No intention on running anything until the 750$ first month is done, and eyes are drifted away from me. I will play by their rules.

Some tips I have maybe it may help some of you guys:

- When you create the agency account, by default you are given access to create 2 add accounts inside the biz. You need to request more ad accounts for more clients. Your sales rep will help with this and speed up the process. After 24hours, you get email saying you now have access to create 10 ad accounts. You need to have at least one ad account live for you to request this. So run something for 2dollars for 24hours, just so you can email them and get more accounts.

- Our company runs intranet in another city so we have a proxy setup, so I am logging in from various cities all the time. And doing this hard right now on purpose to see what type of warnings I might get. My personal account I created to manage the biz has never received any warnings or locks. We have another account, older stand alone used to create the biz page. I have been logging in hard with that one also, VPN, proxy, home... different cities.

I finally received a lock status. Notice saying temp lock because suspicious logins from different cities. Put in first 6 digits of CC to continue. What I did was put in 6 wrong digits 3 times in a row on purpose to see what would happen. Got a warning saying I have failed too many times and cannot try for another 60minutes but I could upload my ID. So I let it sit.

I tried to login again about 2hrs later and it showed me a map saying your last login was from this area, do you confirm this was you. You click confirm and I was logged in. So not sure if this a glitch but pretty lame to ask for CC info, you fail 3 times in a row but try 2hours later and you are in. Strange

Now some questions for STM for guys with Agency accounts.

1) This whole IP, credit card, city matching stuff... If we have an angency and have 3 ad accounts for 3 different clients with 3 different CCs.
There is no way of matching this because all clients can be from around the world and I could be assigning ad manager rules to FB users across the globe. I can't see this being a problem. Does FB pickup on Agencies linking user accounts in multiple geos to ad accounts in different geos? Why is this ad agency assigning users from all over the globe to work on their clients? what is best practice to manage many ad accounts under one agency umbrella?

2) I am not sure what the best setup would be? Use our company CC and attach it to all ad accounts and funnel from there. Or run multiple CC's over each ad account? I asked FB what most agencies do and they said half half. The agency will get banned at some point, this I know. But trying to find the smartest way of doing this. Because I could play the 1 cc for each ad account, but as soon as one of those accounts is in the red, I assume the whole agency is on the radar now. I just think it would not make sense to run 1cc for each client. You are giving yourself away. Who would run sketchy ads on behalf of a client? If you use 1 global CC, you can pinpoint an employee to blame, should you go down, it's 1 CC. Anyone have experience with this?

3) Final point I have been testing regarding IPs and proxies. For the guys looking for IPs in their local cities or states, instead of running a private proxy, could we not just enable a hot spot off our mobiles and rout our traffic using it? You have 3 accounts in your local city, get 3 cheap mobile plans, sit the phones in your house and have 3 hosts connect to them and run 3 at same time. Sure the IPs change way more frequently, but towers do point to your local ISP and geo stays within reach. Has this been tested?

thanks for your input guys.

Interesting observations with the lock outs.

P.S. edited your post a bit as it was too hard for me to read.
