Hi guys, in my testing recently landing page with exit pop performed worser than without exit pop in one of my pin submit campaigns.. What about you guys?
exit pop: 1 conv
non exit pop: 5 conv
you need more data to test out, 1 or 5 conversions dont show statistical significance.
I tried exit pop recently and for some reasons it LOWERED my conversions on a lot of data for mobile (50+ conversions on each LP in rotation), but for tablet it was same or better. I really don't understand as it would make sense to me that either it keeps the conversions the same or increases them (due to the few people who saw the exit pop and came back).
Maybe its just my text used... I am doing sweepstakes and kept it simple for now at a "Wait! We really want you to win our prize" or something like that
Did you put in the exception script for the cta?
Maybe they got the exit pop, when they wanted to push the cta?
@vaalion - VERY interesting! Hmm - did you check the lander on a live phone, or a few of them? Was there any pattern to which handsets were particularly badly affected?
Also, where was the exit pop script in the code, and when was it set to pop?
Two hypotheses occur to me:
1) The exit pop's slowing the load time of the page for some reason. If it's set to pop before the main page loads or renders (which could happen under a variety of circumstances), that could screw around with your CVR.
2) The exit pop pops over the main lander on some phones, or otherwise screws up the lander - maybe not on all phones but on some.
I made sure that when they click on the CTA the exit pop does not work (I make another "on click" pop appear instead)
The code the exit pop is right at the end, before the final </body> tag
It definitely works on my Samsung galaxy, but you might be right for other phones, though I see iphones also doing well. I tested both on my computer and mobile to make sure the CTAs are exclused and exit pop working ....
The exit pop is not doing bad, same as the one without but on some campaigns it does less well for mobile. I only see an increase across campaigns in tablets, where it does a bit better... Unless I am missing something (has anyone had exit pops well coded on their LP NOT increase conv%?)
