Questions about FB gambling page

I've started a small project to test out an idea. It's in the gambling niche, but not in the usual sense. It's focusing on news sites that cover gambling winnings. Maybe I'm being too vague with my description but I don't want to go into too many details about it.

So here's my issue. Read through zeno's guide and that led me to the section in the FB TOC "Ads and Pages may not encourage irresponsible gambling behavior or present gambling as an income opportunity".

I understand the mindset of "if you think it violates something within FB's TOC then stay away from it" because it's better to err on the side of caution because of FB's propensity to cut off an advertisers ability to access their accounts at the drop of a hat.

I believe I know what the answer/s are going to be, but I'm gonna ask anyway.

Should I continue building my FB page presence? The page is up and running and hasn't been closed down. Maybe because it's still small...

Should I not run ads through my FB account for website traffic to the site? I was going to run ads directly to the news story post, not to the homepage. I'll have ad placements on the homepage for different gambling sites.

Should I focus more on other traffic sources? If so, which would you recommend? Is Bing a good traffic source?

Their terms are pretty clear here - the page shouldn't promote irresponsible gambling, and you shouldn't use ads/content that promote bizopps - i.e. any product/service where it's suggested that they'll make money - e.g. secret gambling loophole to net $xxx/daily, that kind of crap.

If it's a community page and you focus on news it should be fine.

If you position yourself and the page as providing news and insider info on gambling, while not trying to peddle any sites/offers to people, it should be fine. Like all things in this arena, FB may still flip a switch on a whim.

I would advertise news feed posts rather than your site.

What exactly do you want from the FB page? Is your goal to get more traffic to your page to then promote offers via ads? Will you have articles there that promote bizopps? The more it goes toward money making the more likely it is for FB to catch on and just ban/remove your page and account. Keep it kosher with indirect selling on the backend if you want to play nice with FB...

This is exactly what I was planning on doing. Of course there will be news stories about people who've won money playing bingo, but no articles on new ways or schemes to win at gambling, bingo, lotto, ect...

Understood.

Agreed. The news feed post pages will have no gambling advertising. The ads will go to these pages, but the homepage will have ads. The homepage will never be featured or mentioned on the FB page or FB ads.

The FB page will be used for the sole purpose of driving traffic to the individual post pages (again, with no ads on the posts themselves). I want the site to be subtle on the ads. Only the homepage. Nothing flashing with lights and graphics. I'd rather it appear to be a legit news site rather than a site screaming of "how to make lottery millions" schemes. No, there will be no articles that promote bizopps. Only news stories about lotteries, bingo, gambling, ect... That's the most indirect method I can think of. I do plan on using trustjacker on the post pages that will not be advertised on FB. I'll never use popup ads on the post pages advertised on FB.

I know it's a bit risky, but do you think this model falls enough into a grey area in regards to FB? Hoping to get enough traction fast enough so that if the page disappears, there should be continued traffic from past visitors. I also plan on acquiring emails to notify visitors of when new pages are posted to the site.

It sounds reasonably well thought out.

I would just go for it and test it.

different angle:

hypothesis: casual players also play for money

create an eBook/report how to win in a popular casino game on FB such as Jackpot party Casinon (1m< active players).

create an email list and....
