Hey STM
Alright, follow along time! This isn’t at all my first go at launching campaigns but I’ve yet to find profits and have a problem of not asking for help. So, it’s way past time for me to man up and reach out…
I have a campaign mapped out but I haven’t launched yet. I’ve got all the pieces gathered (I think) and should have traffic flowing by tomorrow. I just want to put my game plan out here and make any adjustments ahead of time based on your feedback so that I’m starting off clean & on the right foot.
Traffic source: ZeroPark
Vertical: mobile sweeps
Offer(s): iphone
Payout: $3.20
Geos: MX
Budget: $10/day per campaign
Bid: $0.00 CPM < will figure this out at launch time
Angles: these are the categories I’m looking at and will come up with specific angles based on current trends (2 for each).
- recent Hollywood events
- specific celebrity
- soccer
Campaign structure: one campaign for each angle – 6 total
Landing pages: I’ll test 2 landers in each campaign
1. quiz style (3 question), courtesy of bannerslanders.com
2. “Simple Mobile Lander That Actually Works!” http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...Actually-Works
Current tasks:
I just got the quiz lander back this morning in very generic format (needs copy & images) and I’m at my day job right now so I can’t focus on this till I’m home.
- list out the specific angles
- work on these landers to match them up with each angle
Funds are becoming a bit tight for me right now otherwise, I’d start with more angles and a bigger daily budget but, if my current plan is severely flawed due to this, let me know, I’ll make adjustment.
Anyone advise NOT to follow through with this due to no hope of making this type of offer/traffic source/geo work?
Any other advice, critiques, etc.?
Please fire away
Cheers
Just an observation and I'm sure you have it covered but...does the mx offer take all carriers or just Telcel only? With ZP you cannot target specific carriers of course.
Just a thought before you set it live!
woops! I just took my AM's suggestion for the offer and forgot to check that.
Anyways, just looked into it and no carrier carrier restrictions so, all good!
Thanks urbanleaf
I got my 3 quiz landers set up and ready to go (3 different angles). But, fell asleep at my computer before I could make the single page ones. I'm a hack at html/css/etc. so, lesson learned - budget more time for building web pages.
Also, I've been trying to think but can't come up with a way of making a one page lander make sense with my angles (eg. "Brad Pitt's a sexy dude - click OK to win" isn't going to work). So instead, I have 3 additional angles for single pagers - more like "Congrats, you can win" style angles.
Questions:
1 - would you agree that that's a better approach for a single page LP? this way, I'm testing more angles as opposed to my initial thought process that only tests 3 angles
2 - is it too pre-mature to launch the campaign now with only 3 LP's that are identical except for angle, images, copy?
3 - if launching only 3 LP's now, I should just make one campaign rather than break into individual ones for each angle, correct?
Well, this isn't looking very good...
I launched the campaign, splitting 3 landers - different angles but essentially the same quiz-style lander for each.
I kinda f&^%ed up the launch though. I set up the campaign with $0.01 bid (instead of 0.001). It got approved in the middle of the night and by the time I woke up, it had already spent the $40 cap. So as you can see, I didn't get many impressions. Despite the lack of data, the CTR was atrocious so I didn't bother to adjust bid & re-launch.

I cut a few targets the were eating up money. Made 3 new landers with new angles, adjusted the bid to $0.022 which gave me 1-2 bid position.

CTR improved a bit but after a $90 total spend, I didn't get a single conversion.
I'm not sure what to draw from this so far - either my LP copy is just f&^%ing shit, the offers aren't good (4 offers - all iphone, AM said they're converting for others), wrong traffic for this offer... ?
I have no idea but $90 spend and not even a single conversion is quite discouraging. I have cut targets that reached 2x offer payout but I don't think it's even worth continuing with this.
So, unless anybody has any insight, I'm back at the drawing board to find a new offer that might work with this traffic.
