Request for help re: product development

I would appreciate any help re: developing / buying a product to market
I have been Affiliate for 3 months and have made enough to invest in next stage which I would see as product development - also have learned the basics well enough to do a lot myself and give a solid brief to experts in areas that are beyond me
Doing more affiliate marketing doesn't seem like the way to go
Would be great to get ideas / inspiration from any more experienced marketers who have got into product development
I'm not too interested in Aff Marketing tools etc as I think you need to be a super affiliate to market these with any real credibility

Many thanks in advance

McKenzie

What kind of product are you looking at developing? digital or physical? For example ebook (digital) or diet pills (physical product)

Plenty of options to get it created

For digital
1) create it yourself
2) outsource it on elance, freelancer, odesk etc
3) buy an existing product with Private Label Rights so you can customise it to your specification

Physical
1) License an existing product
2) Go private label - find a manufacturer of a product and stick your own brand name on it. Alibaba.com is an example of manufacturing marketplace. Can find others in US and Europe if preferred. Depends on the product

Digital would require less upfront costs and you dont have to worry about shipping / storage and more often than not will have higher profit margins.
Physical will require a minimum order upfront to manufacture ie. 200 - 1000 units minimum must be purchased.

Once you have your product sorted then its back to advertising and marketing using the same methods you have been using for affiliate marketing more or less.

Nice work on getting enough cash flow in only 3 months!!

Thanks Stinker much appreciated - i wonder if I could ask a follow up couple of questions?

- any thoughts on a niche for a mainstream digital product? I am looking at health / wellbeing and kids education as possibles - but finding it hard to drill down into specifics - do you know of any good online sources for directories of potential products or a forum where product developers can pitch their ideas?? What would be a source/forum for Private Label Rights?

- also I must admit the idea of a physical product seems both daunting but also attractive - again any guidelines on sources/directories etc would be cool

Thanks for the positive comments and I wouldn't want to overstate my success!! I'm in the fortunate position of not being under too much income pressure so I can put aside the income from AF and reinvest it into potential product development - it seems that to make AF into a big earner you need a lot of tech knowledge or else have to outsource - I will have to do the latter so I figure if I'm doing that I will may as well have the bigger margins and control that product ownership provides

But open minded on this

All the best and thanks again

Have a look through clickbank for niche ideas. If you find something there then you could figure out a way to create a similar product but better. Otherwise you could read parenting forums for ideas to brainstorm. Kids education could be lesson plans, craft ideas etc ...

Google 'plr rights' and you will see a ton of sites selling plr content. Quality varies but might be a good starting point. You could then research additional info and hire a writer to rewrite the content to you brief.

If you went down the physical product path then I would look through alibaba or global sources for ideas. Even eBay or Amazon.

If your are looking a neutraceutacals / skincare / supplements then look at the US for suppliers ... Google 'private label supplements' for example - that should get you going
