How Does Decisive Tie into the Exchanges?

I'm new to mobile and I don't yet understand how it all works. After much testing, I've finally identified a profitable placement on Decisive for a campaign I'm running. This placement is for a specific app in a specific country. After identifying the placement, I did some research on it in an attempt to increase both volume and conversion rates. Along the way I discovered that this placement is available through Adivity and Sitescout via the exchange Smaato. Does it make any sense for me to recreate the campaign in Adivity and/or Sitescout? What I don't understand is how Decisive acquires its traffic. Does Decisive purchase x number of impressions direct from the app owner (in which case the only way to access this traffic is through Decisive) or does Decisive just act as a DSP and send your bid to the exchanges much like Adivity and Sitescout do?

The app owner will monetise their app through an SSP or through the exchange directly - so DSPs like Decisive, Adivity etc. aren't generally involved in this, they will just bid on the traffic provided to them by the exchange - in this case Smaato.

It may be worthwhile to test on multiple platforms just to see if you observe any performance differences.

Different DSPs have different targeting technologies, charge-ups on the CPMs, and might have differences in the volume of impressions they can access - but usually you can expect all the DSPs to be bidding in the same auction environment for the same impressions. From the exchange's perspective, it's ideal for them to have as many bidders for each impression.
