Wanted to inquire into whether or not anyone is running Diet offers with PPV traffic. From what I know this can be very lucrative if you are picking the right domains and have an upsell present.

Trial or straight sale? What geo?
i did PPV for skin rebills for about 2 months as a newbie and I failed miserably, so let me tell you about my experience since skin and diet both have those trial $4.99 offers and will most likely experience this.
I was targeting skin care related domains and the min. bid was .031 to .218. These guys running rebills on PPV have gotten their sales funnel so optimized that they have buried themselves with amazing converting campaigns with crazy high bids for domains. ( Or newbies like me were all thinking the same thing and bidding on these domains, which drove the bid price up incredibly high.) I'm not joking, this is .218 per view. So I spent about $500 before quiting.
I had 41 different landing pages that I tested and I tried many different angles. I just couldn't make it work. One thing that bothered me was I was crossing the lines which made me feel uncomfortable for example:
* fake testimonials
* outrageous and fake claims
* using celebrities (i'm sure you've seen the Ellen before and after pics)
* ripping before and after pictures
* using fake people
So I decided to come back when I was more experienced and was willing to lose more money.
So things I suggest you do is:
1. think of an angle. Not just lose weight in x days but: 'valentines day is coming, do you want to look fat for your gf/bf"
2. then find other domains besides weight loss domains like jennycraig that would match with your angle
3. think outside the box with your angles and domain targeting
One thing I'm grateful about PPV is that it helped me learn how to:
1. learn GIMP
2. learn CSS and Jquery
3. use Jquery to improve CTR
4. research angles
5. different LP testing methods
6. learn how to change, edit and make HTML websites (before I was just using wordpress)
7. setup tracking and learn how to interpret data
8. learned that IMAGE is everything so make sure you find images that are eye catching because PPV is interruption marketing
These skills are fundamental for anything you do in AM and glad that I learned it. I took it as a $500 learning course in AM101
