When it comes to increasing your CR it is often recommended to target smaller more specific groups.
It makes complete sense because you can market better and directly to the person. I'm currently running campaigns on very small targeted placements, and I split-tested different ways to speak to a specific group:
- Device Callout
- Browser Callout
- When target one single site calling out "For visitor of xyz.com"
- Country Callout
I'm doing mainstream mobile app installs btw.
What really puzzled me is that the results when using these techniques were always negative.
Some time ago I did not use a journal, but I remember that none of the LPs with those callouts I tested performed better.
Just now I tested the "Visitor from site xyz" callout in the Javascript into popup - that was the only difference between the two landers. The one adressing the referrer website got me a 0.93% CVR while the one without the callout got 1.39% ...
I'm pretty sure it's not a technical issue, checked it with VPN and it worked.
I'm really wondering what I'm doing wrong using this technique, it really should work...
What's the best way to target visitors on a mobile LP if you are very niched down to a specific placement or demographic?
It is what it is.
Calling out specific user attributes usually increases engagement but it depends on the audience and specific execution.
It's actually better if you don't need any of this - or that it performs worse - because that means you can go broader and engage a wider audience while spending less time tailoring the front-end for these elements.
from my experience, i know some ppl actually get freaked out that you the website is calling things that are TOO EXACT
like, i know people have said, how does this website know where i can from etc... and as a result don't continue because when you call these out that are TOO EXACT, it just doesn't jive with them
some ppl like to be anonymous
in addition, depending on demo, there are folks who don't even know what device, browser they are using... so if you call those out, they are just confused
bottom line comes down to understanding you demo...
