web design resources?
Hi all,
I have no intention of becoming a web designer but do want to know how it basically works, e.g. from touring the user interface, to building an actual website mockup from
start to finish using Photoshop, and then after getting the mockup done, how to implement it using a CMS like wordpress or joomla etc.
Could anyone please recommend some useful resources?
thanks!

Although I can program using html, php and integrate with a mysql database. I pushed my expensive Dreamweaver aside and went for '90 second website builder' because IT WORKS and it gives great clean results FAST if you are creating landers.
http://90secondwebsitebuilder.com/ will explain all. I do not profit from this (unfortunately! LOL )

Gary from Wickedfire also has a killer site and membership tutorial that I finished sometime last year when I started making my own custom farticles. You'll learn a shitload if you're interested.

can you enter in php code with this? I am using WYSIWYG webbuilder which is very similar but the issue I have is adding in dynamic parts on my pages (echo'ing variables and the like)
I have to do it after in a txt editor...which is ok but the prob is when when I make a change in the webbuilder....it over-writes the code
can 90sec do this?

Yes, you can add php via the drag and drop html control (basically a css positionable div tag). There is also an option to strip out any php when viewing your creation locally on your browser if required.

Checked out the trial. Giving this a shot...sure, I'm going to continue learning HTML, PHP, CSS and whatnot, but I wanna make money now

Thanks man!

instead of 90secondwebsitebuilder, i would recommend checking out www.wysiwygwebbuilder.com first.
it is the same exact software written by the same person, except it is a newer version with more features, and it even costs less than half the price of 90secondwebsitebuilder. but other then the newer features, both are completely identical

Hmmm...I actually just went back with Dreamweaver as I prefer being more in control of the code. 90secondwebsitebuilder is pretty nice, but I had trouble inserting a geolocation script with all the right font formatting.

you are able to do this in wysiwyg web builder.
for instance, if you want to echo a variable, drop a text component down where you want it, then select that text item, right click on it, and in the popup menu select HTML, then select the "inside tag" tab, and put in the php code in there

wow after looking at a lot of this stuff i couldn't help but think "but but html/php/css is so much easier!"
I got dreamweaver once and it took less than 5 minutes before I was plugging away in my code editor again. the way i learned? jacking other peoples landers and studying the code. hate to admit it but it works.
also knowing what you want to do and figuring out how to do it in php/css/html instead of giving up. google is your friend. only took me a little while.

i agree that dreamweaver is awesome at what it does.. its the best...
but sometimes i want speed instead of perfection.
sometimes im so busy i dont wanna mess around with dreamweaver when i can get something done in a few clicks and be done.
if im doing something that requires visual perfection on a really important site that needs to look spectacular, id use dreamweaver, but if im doing something like a PPV lander that i want pumped out quick ill use wysiwyg web builder, because it doesnt have to look beautiful, it just has to make people take action, and it has to load FAST and be done fast.

I agree with gts6 about artisteer for CMS template generation. Used in conjunction with templateer it is awesome. However, I feel, IMO, that WP is overkill for lander creation and Joomla would be complete madness.

If you are going to use Photoshop, Get Site Grinder 3.
Best investment ever for an affiliate.
There is a learning curve but once you've got it down you can whip up a high quality lander in 15 mins. Then make 100 variations off of that 1 lander.
