HI Guys,
I joined STM a few months back, started with POF but didn't have much success at the beginning and got busy and distracted from work, but now i'm back and really want to give it all iv'e got. I started now with Mobile (following the appetizer) , and will update here as i go and when i start seeing some green ROI. I have a budget of about $1K a month but i want to make sure i am spending it wisely on data i can learn from.
SO here we go:
Traffic source: Decisive
Vertical: Security/Cleaner Apps
Offer(s): PSafe CPI
Geos: BR
Payout: $0.32
Budget: $15/day per campaign
Bid: $0.48 Smart CPM (1.5x the payout)
Angles: Promoting the anti theft feature and fear of phone being stolen
Campaign structure: Iv'e split into 2 angles (pro banners and my own angle) WiFi/Mobile and App/Site, giving 8 campaigns overall at $15/Day for each one.
Banners: So far iv'e tried 1 campaign with 4 pro banners from the offer itself, and a campaign with text banners promoting the anti-teft feature of the app. all the same text just diff font color/borders etc.
Landing pages: haven't tested yet. the offer has a pro landing page which i may test later one
Updates:
So far this is where i am standing from 12/18 to 12/24
Spend: $80
Revenue: $16.64
Net profit/loss: -$63.66 or -79.57%
Actions I took: I blacklisted placements with spends of over $1 and no conversions. reached $15 on 4 campaigns and paused them to see what i can learn from them i will detail that in the next post
Current tasks: get data from campaigns that reached $15, figure out why 1 campaigns is barely getting any spend
So far between 6 campaigns i got one campaign to generate $5.12 in revenue after $15 spend
Should i try blacklisting and optimizing/ adding banners and try to get it work or since is lower than $7 try another one
Great start!
If you want to make sure to spent your budget wisely on data, I'd recommend creating some kind of journal - for example a notebook where you write down everything you tried and learned. This will become very valuable later on, and I wish I had done one from the beginning.
Yeah try optimizing it, great to learn it - and don't make decision too early. Add banners and once you feel comfortable with everything start with split-testing landing pages. If you can get the ROI up all the testing you'll have to do will be very cheap
Good luck!
Nice! Good to see you in action kidooo and not bearing that pesky guest status that didn't seem to want to go away!
PSafe Brazil... not a fan - but is it still converting well? AMs will know, maybe it's still going strong
I suggest trying PSafe in a different geo or another offer if one is available that has a similar feature. Something to split-test.
Don't get me wrong, PSafe BR might still be profitable with the right angle... but everyone and their mum has been advertising it for many, many months - especially on Decisive. Chances are a lot of users have clicked ads already and have not converted on the app store page.
I would hit Venezuela.
Payout is only part of the puzzle... I would talk to your AM and ask which offers are getting volume and get conversion rate info then use that to guide you. The highest EPC offer in VE for your type of campaign right now could have a $0.40 payout, could have a $2 payout.
Mathematically, offer performance - from the standpoint of a marketer buying traffic, is determined by earnings per click i.e. EPC (ignoring other important considerations here).
EPC = Payout x Conversion %
So the payout doesn't mean everything... all else being equal a $0.10 offer converting at 30% is better than a $5 offer converting at 0.02%.
For network epcs ask your AM. Yes the data is biased - well, its entirely non-transparent and that's why network epcs are not something you revolve your world around.
