Understanding the basics when choosing an offer

Hi all,

Very simple newbie questions here. I signed up to a network and am picking my first offer to run.

Upon selecting the offer it says "no incent, adult traffic allowed"

The latter I understand, just that it can be promoted on traffic sources including adult (correct?), however what do they mean by "no incent"?

After this stage, it asks what sort of traffic I will be sending, when using something like Decisive, this would be network traffic, correct?

Finally, when I was accepted to the network, they told me to initially send low traffic to check my quality of the traffic. If it is good they will tell me to boost my traffic. How do I know the traffic I am sending is good?

thanks and sorry for the likely very simple questions.

Incent = incentivised.

This is any type of traffic where the user receives something in exchange for converting. E.g. install this app and get access to a free eBook, or get virtual currency in X game.

This type of traffic is of much lower quality since the users have an incentive to convert other than because they want to or like the offer. This traffic is often used to just get users for the sake of getting them on a list, in a funnel, or ranking apps in the app store - there are lots of incent-focused traffic sources out there as well (e.g. content locking, mobile app install networks, etc.).

Yes Decisive is the traffic network. To be broader, you would call it mobile display.

With quality, this comes down to feedback from the advertiser. It's just like a trial employment period. E.g. Send $100 worth of leads per day, for a week, advertiser will look at your leads and their key performance indicators on the back end (e.g. logins, tutorial completion, payments/sales, etc.) and will then assess how much your leads are worth to them. If they are doing well the advertiser will want more traffic, and you could even negotiate a bump. If the leads are terrible they may kick you off the offer or negotiate a lower payout - which is usually "we'll give you $x. Take it or leave it".
