Journey to the Green Numbers - Mobile Content Offers - Aiming for 30% ROI

I did back 7 or 9 months ago Adult CPA but paused when I lost over $2000. I know what I did wrong and I will retry my AM Career in the paid traffic industry. I'm 18 years old, still living at my parent's in Germany, and earning a passive income from content locking. I've saved most of my earnings and living at my parent's gives me the option to invest a bit more into this business.

In this second attempt I will focus on Mobile CPA Marketing. I'm aiming for a 30% ROI and will promote PIN Submit Offers (Mobile Content Offers). I applied to YeahMobi, MundoMedia and Matomy Media.
I had interview calls with YeahMobi and Mundomedia, they both accepted me. I'm just waiting for their AM to accept me on Skype. Matomy Media rejected me. I guess they only want to go with the big guys. Anyways, I got my account reactivated at ClickDealer as well.

I read the Mobile Cookbook Main Course and will most likely follow its principles.
My testing budget: $2000 monthly
My overall budget to scale (includes testing budget): $8000
Hosting Setup: DigitalOcean VPS $10 monthly. Nginx + PHP-FPM + MariaDB => In my opinion the best. I chose Amsterdam as Server Location. I used BeyondHosting previously but I'm pretty sure that DO will perform better. I only recommend you to use DigitalOcean if you have the knowledge to setup the server from scratch. Nobody's gonna help you with setting up website. I needed to install nginx, etc. on my own.
CDN: MaxCDN (0,1TB monthly)
Tracking Platform: Voluum Noobie Plan. If my events are nearing 100.000, I will upgrade to the Pro.

Offer: [WAP] Android Phone Cleaner
Networks used: ClickDealer
Country: Mexico
Payout: $3.20

Let this journey begin

How long does it take you to create such a list? After 3h waiting and asking him, he sent me a list from 2 weeks ago. He said he'd send me the updated one by tomorrow. Also, he is very unresponsive. What to do here? I'll give him another chance...

Welcome back to Actionland!

This is definitely an interesting time of year to launch completely new campaigns. You will see big Christmas budgets pushing up CPMs up until Christmas then it will drop down sharply after Xmas. I would keep that in mind when looking at your data.

It takes a few minutes, they can just download a report. If I were you I would get Yeahmobi rolling in the meantime.

Yeah, the approval department told me on Friday their AM is out of office and that my AM would approve me on Monday (today). I didn't get anything. No confirmation, no skype request. Nothing! I will call Yeahmobi tomorrow if nothing happens. I feel like I'm beeing treated like Sht.

PMed you.

Received the list this morning. I went for the Phone Cleaner Offer (PIN) in Mexico that only allows Telcec Traffic (One less testing variable but less volume probably).
Will update you once I'm finished with the banners.

There's quite a bit of volume out there for Telcec, so I wouldn't worry about volume at this stage. If your angle, banner and lander combo works, you should be able to get it to around $300-500/day rev.

Good luck!

Thanks. I don't really worry about the volume atm as I need to get it Green first before scaling hehe.
Time to get back to work!
Edit: I suck at designing banners. Creating Ads for adult placements for desktop was so easy. Just Gimp and copy and paste, and maybe edit. With mobile banners there is not much space so I need to make it really small on one ad. I think I just spent 2h on designing only 3 banners and they're imo ugly as fuk. But most of those 2h were used to watch Photoshop Tutorials. I'm very stressed right now and will break for today.
Tomorrow I will create more ads again. A disadvantage when it comes to other languages is that you sometimes have another idea to express something. Since you have no clue how to translate it, you gotta pay someone again...

12-24-2014 12:22 PM #10 phlong (Member)

Still at creating ads step. I'm getting used to it and can make them faster now. Also, the translating part will be at the end. This means that I first create the ads in English and when I'm done and satisfied with my ads, I will get it translated.

I just found the same offer on MundoMedia $3.00 payout but it allows Wifi Traffic as well.
Do you think I should create another 2 campaigns App - WIFI , Site - WIFI Traffic? I asked my AM on ClicKDealer and he said that their advertiser does not allow Wifi traffic to that offer and that'd be the reason why the payout is higher. But I'm pretty sure that I could get a payout bump on MundoMedia? What do you think?

12-27-2014 01:37 AM #12 zeno (Administrator)

Sure, test it!

12-27-2014 08:47 AM #13 zeno (Administrator)

For landers, test multiple designs and ad copy. Don't expect your first landers in a campaign to work that well.

Also, for that one I would move your CTA up higher. On some screens it will be below the fold.

I'm just surprised that the CTR is that low. My shittiest lander I had once in a campaign was 11%. But 2% is really low.
I just added another LP into rotation and hope that it will perform better than the current one.
I will adjust my CTA, thanks!
Edit: I just uploaded 3 more banners (completely different each). I'm so unlucky. Decisive paused both campaigns because I uploaded new ads. Couldn't they have just let the approved banners running? I assume that I have to wait 20h now to get it approved. Meanwhile I'll create a nother marketing funnel that includes 10-15 banners and 1 LP.

12-27-2014 12:41 PM #15 mehdi (Member)

Make sure you are allowed to call out the carrier mate, most times it's forbidden.

For the LP, try some "your wifi could be xx% faster" angle with 2 progress bars, one showing their actual wifi speed (fake obviously) and one what it could be, something more personalised/calling out their device.

Try with adding an intro pop, and some sense of urgency

Best of luck !

Mehdi

Thanks for your tip! I'm working at the moment on another Marketing Funnel (Angle) that could work with Adult traffic as well. I'd need to ask my AM on Monday though whether my advertiser accepts such kind of traffic.
I will definitely keep your idea in mind
Edit: I just realized that I could use those progress bars in my new angle as well. Thanks mehdi haha.
Update: My campaigns have not been running for the last days. The reasons were the holiday days where no one really worked to approve campaigns.
Also, I'd like to mention that I'll switch to Leadbolt as the traffic source. The CTR of my Landing pages were just unrealistic. They got many visits but 1% LP CTR. This experience was similar with JuicyAds (I had <5% CTR as well. After switching to Traffic Junky it went up to 40%). Maybe some people bank good with Decisive but I've heard many things about crappy bot traffic.

Itay from Matomy Media Group here, we would love to have you on board with us and help you getting that 30% ROI

Just PM'd you,

Update:
I'll be targeting App Installs now. Probably much easier for a mobile newbie like me. It's important for me to get some traffic first to feel the game.
New Offer: 360 Security -Anti Virus [App Install]
Payout: $0.35
Country: I'll target Austria. It's possible to scale up to 34 other countries as well.
Network: ClickDealer

I've seen tons of people promoting this offer with pop under ads even though it's not allowed. They use non-compliant landers as well. I'll make full compliant funnel

01-09-2015 06:38 AM #19 phlong (Member)

Update:
My start in mobile CPA Marketing has been horrible so far. I always face akward problems. My first decision on this follow along was to promote a Mexican PIN Submit Offer that accepts only Telcel Traffic. Fine, I payed $30+ for translation and couldn't even get $10 worth traffic in the end. No matter how high I bid (Decisive, Tapit!), I didn't get enough traffic. I thought "Hey, okay. I'm a noob. I should probably try app installs first as everyone recommends it for newbies, especially since conversions happen more due to the lower payout = Less money needed to test. And this is the result of my 2nd try, promoting a mobile offer:
http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...work)&p=200601
I always try to make things compliant and in the end bullshit comes out. When spying pop unders, I only find ultra non-compliant "You have 1561651 Virusses" Landers. And those blackhat marketers make probably good cash.
Right now I maybe need a push into the right direction. Things just don't want to work atm but I'm not gonna give up. I will make this shit.

There will always be hurdles. Your job is to figure out creative solutions.

I don't think there's a need to create a new thread for your "click loss" problem. Here's your solution: block the site that sent 80% of your traffic without converting.

Stop crying and get back to work.

Hey man I'm also from Germany an was 18 just one year back in time, also working from home making some nice profits without having any living costs.. well this time is over now haha. Keep taking massive action and you'll find something that's working. When only running very small volume I would rather go more non compliant with LPs, and once you figure out how to get profitable with aggressive LPs make them compliant asap

I read a bit on your blog. It's very impressing to live on your own at the age of 19 in Australia! Very inspiring!
My dream is to live independant as well.
PS: I got my first conversion.
