hello,
waiting since a looooong time.... 6 digits!
their bla bla bla:
I would like to further apologize for the general lack of communication on our part in regards to the payment of your commissions generated on the offerforge.com affiliate network.
When we last attempted to pay your and a number of other affiliates we encountered a complex foreign exchange control legislation issue that prevented us from making payments from our South African accounts to foreign based affiliates under specific circumstances.
We have been working to resolve this issue, but as we have not communicated it to you effectively, I’ve included a full explanation of the issue and our actions below.
South African exchange control regulations require disclosure of all international funds transfers both inward and outwards. For 8 years we’ve been processing advertising payments to foreign affiliates but in November when we attempted to process payments we were advised that some of the payments we were trying to make were in contravention of the Exchange Control act.
I have edited this to try and set it on the right track and have adjusted the thread title to be more accurate.
Posting warnings for non-payment is fine, just make sure you have evidence and can show that the network is at fault, otherwise it's unnecessarily defamatory to their reputation.
In this case I don't see evidence of any clear fault of the network. If there really was an unanticipated interruption due to some foreign exchange control legislation then I would stop traffic and ask around to see if others are in the same boat. It isn't fair to OfferForge to start STM threads on them NOT paying when they reality may be the government is making it so they currently CAN'T pay.
Imagine if you were a restaurant critic dining in China and tried to pay for your restaurant bill and out of nowhere your bank had blocked your CC. You'd be a bit pissed if the restaurant owners posted on some critics forum about how you refused to pay at their restaurant and should be avoided, right?
On the other hand, how long has this been delayed? 4 weeks? 20? Stuff like this is hard to deal with as it's not a company that has to do something... it's the damn government - and things there happen either perversely fast or at snails pace.
To realign the discussion here, has anyone else had experience with payment problems from South Africa due to this legislation, or is anyone else in the same boat?
Lastly, a suggestion: can you not open a bank account somewhere else or provide a different payment medium to help them get the money to you? If this legislation is at fault, maybe you could call a banker in South Africa to confirm and see if you can open an account there remotely that will let you wire the money out?
Thanks Zeno...they are up and running.... but the foreign exchange control legislation problems were just 1 of many excuses.... to don't pay... they lie...month after month...
I know what I'm saying...
I don't mind for my XX,XXX$ ... goodbye! I just stopped doing business with this kind of people.
Just Beware!!!
Gotcha.
For now, let us know how you get on and if you see any progress!
