Understanding the Mobile Pin Backend

I've been looking through mobile pin offers and see an array of differing rule sets depending on the offer / country. I'm trying to get a more clear picture of how these offers work exactly on the backend. I understand that different laws in the country may make things stricter etc, but really I'm wondering.

  1. Why are some offers only for certain OSes?
  2. Why are some offers incent and others aren't? Even the same carrier, advertiser, basically same offer.
  3. How much do customer complaints affect the advertiser?
  4. Is my goal to try to keep people subscribed or is it generally accepted that a bunch will unsubscribe after the first charge?
  5. Why do some offers, even from the same advertiser in the same country, on the same mobile network have different rules about banners, even though the offer is virtually the same?

I'll try my best with answers here.

1. I'm not aware of pin submit offers that cater to certain OSs unless it's just part of the angle.

2. Simply for the fact the advertiser wants more leads. Usually incent will have a lower payout because the LTV of a customer will be lower.

3. A lot. It depends on the country. If they get enough complaints, their shortcode will get shut down (which is basically a database of their recurring revenue).

4. You need to find the sweet spot. Obviously you want people to be subscribed as long as possible. Depending on your pin country you could have freak subscribers back out to low $x,xxx. But a big chunk of people are going to always cancel after the first charge.

5. People tread the line differently. Some play it safe, some super aggressive.

Hope that helped!
