Free pictures from for landers and banners? Or do Networks provide free pictures?

Hi Guys,

Where do I get the pictures from for banners and landers for free or for very cheap? I assume for testing purpose and according to the offer we have to test with lots of different pictures, or are the networks providing with each offer some pictures?

Thank you!
Leon

Hi Leon,

Usually the networks can provide presales/landers but most guys will use their own ads/banners.

You can buy stock photos for cheap or if you just doing small tests google images will get the job done

For the most part you need to search the web yourself to find image content.

Be wary of copyright and don't use things like celebrity images, brand imagery etc. that can get you into hot water.

You can also get free-to-use images from some sites, check out the section on it in my onboarding guides.

what's the difference between "free to use images" and "stock images"? I guess I still need to pay for stock images but don't have to pay for "free to use" images? Is that correct?

Also, is it safe to use stock images that are still for sale on their own websites but some people have shared for free on the Internet? I'm tempted but don't want to get into legal trouble. But again, I'm not a big fish so would that care at all, even if they notice? and what's the chance of getting noticed?

Free to use = public domain = no copyright.

Stock images are sold by sites where you pay for permission to use.

You can use stock images if you find them elsewhere but an aggressive stock images site could certainly ping you and ask you to prove that you paid for rights to the image. Will it happen? Probably not. I think if you are doing things in highly regulated verticals then you should be more careful, but for a mobile content offer or app install you're probably not going to get any heat.
