I have been looking to apply for affiliate networks but I feel hesitant to give out my SSN.
I was thinking about applying for an EIN number through irs.gov but I'm not sure.
Any tips or advice on where I should go from here?

In US, SSN serves as an identity number. You will need it on a wide range of documents, applications, credit checks, criminal checks, and legal contracts if you are running business as a sole proprietor.
For AM activity, you should set up a limited liability company and get an EIN however, instead of running under your own name as a sole proprietor.
