When to ask for a payout boost?

Hey guys,

just wondering what is a good general rule for when you can negotiate a boost in the payout.

i've asked network to boost by saying others have done so, or telling them other network is paying out higher.

but in terms of traffic/leads, when do you look at your stats and go, yep... its time for a boost.

Depends on the vertical, if you're running dating you don't want to ask too early you want at least 500 leads and a few days. If you ask too early you risk getting the boot or lowering of payout if they haven't had time to mature.

If you have a good relationship with an affiliate manager who knows what he/she is doing keep in communication with them and keep on them about when they think a payout increase from advertiser would be good based on other affiliates feedback.

If you want a slight increase just ask off the bat, or do as you have said and say can you please match this and highball them

Sorry for stealing this thread, but I have the same question - for the mobile vertical.

Does it even make sense to ask for a payout bump if you know the network has the highest available street payout out there?

(actually I got a payout bump on one offer without even asking - that happened when there was a payout decrease and I was sending them a ton of installs so they raised my payout a bit, so probably there is a room for that)

Would 500+ conversion per day be an okay general rule for all kinds of offers?

I thought Charles Ngo had an awesome write-up about this a couple weeks ago on his Facebook page.

I tried to embed the original post, but the code didn't work for some reason.

Here's a copy / paste version:

A HUGE tip to get someone to do what you want.

I couldn't get paybumps during my peasant newbie days. I'd ask for a paybump on an offer, and they'd come up with an excuse why they couldn't give me one.

One day I remembered a tip from INFLUENCE book. REFRAME requests so they'll benefit the other party.

Before:

"Hey can I get a paybump? I'm losing money"

After:

"Hey, this offer is breaking even right now. If you could offer me a pay bump, I'm sure i could send 3 times more VOLUME."

You see what I did there. They don't give a fuck that I'm losing money. But promise to send them VOLUME? Now you're in business.

People are self-fish. No one cares about you, people care about themselves. Same request, two ways of asking.

Worth a follow if you don't already!

These days there are multiple types of payout boosts.

The easy payout:
- When you ask right away and get it

The competitive payout:
- When you start running some real volume and the network wants to keep your volume so they make sure they give you the best payout possible to keep your business

The custom payout:
- You've been running a lot of volume for a while and you want a custom deal. Ask your AM to ask the advertiser and see what can be worked out.
