Every good system, needs a system (11)

Every good system, needs a system
sup players,
I'm a week deep into STM and have been seriously neglecting IRL as much as possible in favour of learning the AFF goodness. I tried some direct linking to sweepstakes and a few dodgy landers but didn't have tracking properly setup, let alone any sort of system.
Needless to say, I'm hooked. And can totally see the gamer parallels.
Disclaimer
yes I'm full noob, there will probably be questions re tracking TURN BACK NOW
Goals
setup and understand how to verify tracking is working
develop a system - or at least understand each basic phase
setup and analyse split test(s) on ads, and landers
get at least 2 conversions from different geos
Aff network
CM
Traffic network
Decisive
Tracking Tools
Voluum
Offer
CPL - free hearing check
Angles
your geo only, lucky you
does your hearing suck?
free test worth x
Bid and Spend
CPM 0.36
Spend $15 per geo
Decisive Questions
1 - the target link location is ; xyz.xxx being my domain - is this right ?
http://xyz.xxxxxxxx.com.au/9b6f51c3-dc8b-40b3-a895-d52f1ed2f3ca?media={{{media}}}&app={{{app}}}&site= {{{site}}}&placement={{{placement}}}&cat={{{catego ry}}}&device={{{device}}}&isp={{{carrier}}}&os={{{ os_version}}}&cid={{{creative_id}}}&adid={{{ad_id} }}&BID={{{BID}}}&bidhash={{{bidhash}}}
2 - whats the best practice for split testing demographics? Clone, change one thing then run side by side?
Voluum Questions
1 - in the offer do I just paste the tracking link from CM then only the click ID? Also adding the extra {{ }} because it is going to decisive with conversion info ?
2 - how can you verify the funnel easily?
CM Questions
1 - in the section for postback URL, do you just paste in the postback URL from voluum?
2 - will this ever need to be modified to suit different AFF networks?
Spend and Bidding
1 - Too much, too little?
2 - Whats the basic principles when modifying these based on results?
Whats Next?
First step is to verify tracking is working and that there are no other glaring mistakes.
Next will be to create a landing page and flesh out the campaign for all local geos.
hugs in advance for any help and or pro tips

sweet jebus I love how fast traffic rolls in with AFF
ads approved less than 30 mins ago and already 20+ clicks and 3 cents each haha. My experience with PPC extends to adwords and getting reamed in local services at $2-3 cpc
Ok so I am pleased to see that the decisive traffic is being tracked in Voluum, no conversions but I can see device/carrier/browser etc which is great.
Just wondering, how long does it take to get conversions verified? is it normally the user signs up, then clicks an email verification?

can confirm that CM is tracking the clicks as well
so for any experienced AMs, assuming that this offer is one worth testing, where is time best spent from here?
create and test 10 banners first?
get landing pages before or after?

Ok I woke up to find about 250 clicks in decisive, but my AFF network (CM) is trying to say I've only sent 20 clicks?

update CM is now showing 120ish clicks and is still moving. It's about 100 clicks behind, now to try figure out if that's lag or some clicks just get lost along the way

have created new banners to test on different geos - not following any kind of design methodology just taking shots in the dark here to get rolling

still waiting for new banners to be approved but here is an update on spend for the text ads

so if payout is $8, currently have spent $24 with no conversion - should I pause that and try different banners / angles ?

You should probably look into finding a lower payout offer, so you can see if there's potential in it. With a 8$ payout offer you would need a way higher budget to see if it's worth it or not.

1. Your link looks fine, but I'm not sure what {{{BID}}} is supposed to do? AFAIK that isn't a Decisive token.
2. Yes, that in itself is what a split-test is.
1b. Use your affiliate link. Pass parameters as you want but make sure to use {clickid} for one of them to pass that value along for conversion tracking. Watch the video I made in the tracking section if you haven't already. Regarding the last part, no, do not add {{ }} - these have no place on Voluum. You always use tokens native to the platform you are on. When on Voluum, Decisive is irrelevant.
2b. To test your tracking, again see the video on Decisive > Voluum > network that I made (stickied in tracking).
1c. Yes. And with whatever token is needed to pass back the {clickid} value passed in your affiliate link.
2c. Yes, because their tokens may be different.
1d. Fine.
2d. Modifying what? Bids and budget? Get data first and then go from there.

It depends on the offer, and it's your job to find out. Check the offer info. Is it on app install? On initial email submit (SOI)? On email verification (DOI)?

And how many in Voluum? How many are from the right country? How many are unique IPs? Check your network and make sure you are looking at the lifetime stats for the offer. Show gross clicks (include duplicates).

Some affiliate networks update stats slowly rather than real-time. You will get click loss in every campaign you do, and it is worse with mobile.

Yeah just wondering when to start trying to reduce click costs, but gotcha will get some more data first.

Ok point taken, need more research into my offer. I re-read the offer page and can only see it described as CPL , this is the
landing page so I stupidly just assumed it wouild be email submit. I hadn't even considered SOI DOI thats a good learning when assessing offers.

Yeah
Voluum matches decisive and 480/520 are NZ and unique IPs attached. What are you looking for in unique IPs, just underconverting IPs that are the same page/app
thanks again for your tips, I havent seen that video yet but will check it out now. Even with no conversions I feel I understand the process better now. I think koalah is right re a cheaper offer and I think I read that in the cookbook, I have been looking at different offers and think I might try a game or skype install if that gets accepted.

As you can see a lot of the clicks come from the same IPs, since NZ is small and has limited carrier gateways.
This is normal, but clearly about ~200 of those clicks are going to get shaved off in the network stats just due to the "unique IP" reporting. Show gross clicks or duplicates to get them displaying again.
Don't worry about the IPs aside from that issue.
For that offer, CPL means it will convert when the submit the form.
