The #1 Tool that Pay Per Call Publishers are NOT using

Many pay per call publishers are missing a great opportunity to better monetize their calls with call treatments (aka call promos or IVRs).

A call treatment allows publishers to create their own IVR and redirect or filter calls to the best option, not only for the caller, but for the publisher as well.

For example: If a caller is looking for a payday loan you can set up your call treatment to ask if they have 2 or more payday loans. If the caller answers yes, they likely won't qualify for a new loan. So, the publisher can then send this caller to a payday loan relief campaign instead. Publishers will not only be better monetizing their traffic, but also helping the caller and the advertiser.

Call treatments can be used in several ways, including: filtering callers for better quality, redirecting callers for better monetization, testing multiple campaigns for the best conversion, sending text messages to other offers, detecting repeat callers, verifying locations, asking questions, etc.

If your network is using Invoca, just ask them to turn this feature on for your account. Alternatively, you may be able to use a service like CallFire or Ifbyphone. However, we have seen some issues where CallFire sends the promoted phone number as the caller id, which leads to all calls being repeat calls and not paying out.

Check out the videos below to learn how to use call treatments to better filter, monetize and redirect your calls for improved profits.

Great suggestion!

Call treatments are definitely a solid way to improve your quality and conversion rate. As a bonus, you can usually get a pay bump if you can improve your quality. Higher conversions and better payouts...definitely worth exploring.

If I want to have a human message instead of the usual text to voice, do you have any resources or suggestions for scripts? I know it'll vary depending on the campaign and even the niche inside each campaign, just looking for general suggestions.

Is it a good idea to try pre-selling the prospect before transferring them to the Advertiser IVR? If so, what's the best way to do this without being too long winded and losing people? Is there a certain length of time not to go over to avoid losing people?

When adding in forwarding ph#'s in the callflow, eg. google forwarding ph# >> twilio/callpixels ph# >> promo ph# >> advertisers ph#. Will the advertiser see the actual ph# of the caller or for example twilios/callpixels forwarding ph# as the caller? in which case = all calls being repeat calls = no payout. No IVR here, just forwarding.

For scripts, its easy. Just listen to other IVR's, als from other campaigns. There is a certain standard for how they all sound.

Then write it down, talk to people around you what they think of it. Then, go to fiverr and let it a voice actor help you. What I normally do is two IVR's, and split test them.

When using a custom IVR with a voice actor, has anyone tested background music versus no music?

no music is recommended

they hold longer and if there is multiple musics (one per step in phone system tree) the caller is more likely to hang up
IMO

Is that based on data from tests?

Jingles work! I gotta disagree.

Here's how you might want to do it.

Let's say you're creating a call promo to brand your website, "somerippedlandingpage.com"

When a user calls in, you want your call promo to say "Thank you for calling some ripped landing page dot com! Please wait while we connect to you" before transferring to your advertiser.

You probably don't want music over the whole intro, but if you announce the name of the website in a jingle, it's gonna stick in peoples heads and you may get return visitors to your site. Think about the way radio ads work, part jingle, part simple voiceover.

Order the VO on fiverr, and order a separate jingle on fiverr. Splice it together using some free audio editing software like Audacity. Now you've got a pretty awesome IVR for 10 bucks and 10 minutes of time.

I've helped some of our pubs set this up for our offers. Hit me up if you wanna try it and need help.
