The end to end process

Hi all,

I've been going hard for the last week and learning heaps. I'm still very much on the low point of the learning curve so I'm sometimes getting frustrating on understanding the relationships between each node of the process.

I'm trying to get my head wrapped around what each of these components want from each and pass to each other

- the mobile user
- Voluum
- my landing page
- decisive (labeled as referrer?)
- affiliate network (CJ or CM)

I have a sweet high quality image I was hoping would help it make sense in a visual format.

is it anything like this?

1- mobile user see's my ad on decisive and ends up at my landing page or direct links
2 - decisive sends information about the user with macro's via a cookie?
3 - user interacts with landing page, continues to offer
4 - link is cloaked from the affiliate network?
5 - user converts with affiliate network
6 - Voluum tracks the conversion, carrier, site, device etc?

I am struggling with these componenets - mainly where they go and why
track.mycustomdomain.com - I have this setup but what is it doing ?
postbackurl - supplied from voluum, tracks conversions, goes on your landing page?
clickurl - this is the mycustomdomain, provided from voluum? enables the user of tokens?

when I am testing my landing page in IE or Chrome I get

Visit data was missing when handling click. To redirect a click, you must go through your campaign URL. Details: URL parameter 'voluumdata' is missing.

is that because I manually pasted the link and didn't get redirected from decisive ?

the track.mycustomdain.com url pasted in the LP's call to action works in firefox tho which is the same browser as decisive is logged into

in the interests of not spamming too much I will try post all my noobie questions and answers if I find them in the same thread

With testing, is it ok to

click on your ad in decisive - click on your LP call to action and then be able to look in Voluum, see a visit and a click to confirm its working? not there yet but hoping that it can be tested easily like this

When testing if clicking through your LP works you need to use the link you put into the Decisive URL field (the one you got from the campaign window in Voluum) instead of visiting your LP directly.
The LP should still work if you access it directly, but clicking on your CTA won't get you to the offer.

You CTA on the landing page should link to http://fswvj.voluumtrk.com/click and nowhere else.

For the most part, a lot of the tracking happens through passing information in the URLs rather than via cookies.

thanks kepe and zeno, starting to peice it together a bit more now - slowly but surely.

I think I may have tracking working now, can see clicks in Voluum but havent had any conversions yet so not sure. I have emailed Voluum and he gave me some help, also advised me to email commision monster asking to check settings which I will do.

oh nice, I have read a few guides but hadn't found that one yet, checking it out now
