I ask because Facebook may be adding Category targeting as a new option, or as the only option. If it's the only option then keyword targeting will be completely gone and the way a lot of us make campaigns will have to be adjusted. It won't be the end of facebook (even though i mention that in the post), but affiliates will have to use new techniques to acquire sky high CTRs. It'll definitely be a hit on my campaigns!

I never usually use keywords for my dating ads, I did it once, got a lot of clicks for very cheap but the quality wasn't very good on the advertiser end so only for dating, I'm not using keywords, this might change as well when I'll do some more tests.
It seems a lot of the dating guys on FB don't use keywords, so not just you. It makes sense why there's no need to though, then demo is only so big and everyone is listed as 'single' and that's essentially 'your keyword'
Exactly, but you certainly can use them as I said, you can get a ton of very cheap clicks, I had my cheapest clicks on keywords campaigns but conversions was low on my end and even lower on the advertiser end but as I said, I haven't tested it that much neither, there must be some potential
other then dating i ALWAYS use keywords! Don't want it to be gone!!
I hope they just implement these categories as an additional feature and not a replacement to keywords!
A new account I opened recently has the option to do either one so I hope that it not a replacement either!
Update:
I've had 2 people contact me from my blog post saying they have both categories and keywords. One guys is sending me a screenshot now. So it may not be the end afterall + just read your comment msmith, so now thats 3!!
@marcovandaar SAME. Id take a big hit without keywords, the thing is categories will be a new learning curve and i hope i can learn it before others and have an advantage.
It would suck if they get rid of targetting to be honest, the campaigns I'm currently running pretty much all rely on keyword targetting.
@rich I'm the exact same. As the days has progressed today and I've talked to more people. It's looking more likely that they may keep keyword targeting as an 'advanced feature'. Still 50/50 though.
yeah it makes sense to, even the bigger companies that know what they are doing will benefit from being able to target specific people.
