Manual CPM vs Smart CPM and CPC on Decisive

Hi, I want to splittest between these 3 bidding options. The payout is $0.30 and I was running the ad on smart CPM $0.45. I have a couple questions for the campaigns.

1) How much should I bid with Manual CPM? Is there any thumb rule I can adjust to?

2) What about CPC? Is there also any rule I can adjusted to the payout?

3) How is this affecting my traffic at all? Obviously I know that I win more bids, if I raise the bid. People say the traffic will be better, but what is "better" exactly? Only more volume or does this also mean I get a better CTR and CVR?

I read in a guide of MrGreen, that I should understand how my trafficsource actually works. So far I understand that accountbalance and daily Limit of smart CPM regulate the speed I get traffic and the actual bidprice how many bidy I will win. Is there anything else I should know how decisive works?

Thanks in advance.

1) You can get a very approximate idea of how much to bid by looking at the Decisive Planner for the region and type of traffic you're bidding on. That normally needs a fair amount of adjustment after the fact, but it gives you a starting point.

2) I'd start by targeting your CPC to a level that will be profitable for you - in other words, payout x expected conversion rate. From there, see how much you can drop it down and still get volume.

3) Higher bids, particularly in more "legit" verticals, will get you access to higher-quality sites. It's definitely worth testing higher bids for that reason - the CVR, in particular, can be quite closely tied to your bidding.
