Decisive | Sweepstakes MY 2

This is my 2nd follow along in Mobile Sweepstake targeting Malaysia. The banner and LP are translated to native Malay language.

Traffic source: Decisive
Vertical: Mobile Sweepstakes
Offer(s): Win Galaxy S5 $2.50 payout
Tracker: CPV Lab
Geos: MY

Budget: $20/day per campaign
Bid: $0.75 Smart CPM

Angle: You can win a Samsung Galaxy S5 even with bad English

Campaign structure: 2 campaign targeting Carrier only. Separated into Mobile / App and Mobile/Site. Banner and LP are in native Malay language.

Banners and Landing Page: Headline inspiration from John Caples’ “They laughed when i sat down”. I’ve created 7 banners with similar design layout. The objective is to determine which headline has the highest CTR. After the top performing banner has been identified, multiple design variation will be included.

2 Landing pages have been created focusing primarily on the winner of the last S5 sweepstake. Slogan from the previous winner was also included. These are actual picture and slogan from the advertiser’s site.

The first LP has the picture of the winner and the second LP without. The reason for this is to determine the effect of a picture in the LP in terms of CTR. File size with image is 26.4 kB and the image is on Rackspace CDN.

The campaign have been running for the last 2 days. These are the stat:

Campaign: Mob / Site
Spend for the last 2 days: $3.73
Revenue: 0
Net profit/loss: -$3.73

Actions I took: For Mo/Site, 2 banners with the lowest CTR has been blacklisted with 95% stat significance confidence compared with the top performing banner.

LP1 with Image: 28 views with 0 click. LP2 without image: 41 views with 1 click = 2.44% CTR.

Campaign: Mob / App
Spend for the last 2 days: $3.92
Revenue: 0
Net profit/loss: -$3.92

Actions I took: For Mo/Site, 2 banners with the lowest CTR has been blacklisted with 95% stat significance confidence compared with the top performing banner.

LP1 with Image: 153 views with 37 click = 24.18% CTR. LP2 without image: 106 views with 12 click = 11.31% CTR.

Heh, nice to see the old John Caples formula getting a workout!

First thing: the landing pages probably have too much text on them to easily convert unless you're telling a very strong story. If you're doing that, I'd recommend looking at your formatting more, and breaking it up with different-sized text, subheads and so on. Otherwise, try and get your point across in a LOT less text.

Second thing: you could really do with boosting your spend per day here. Your SmartCPM bid is very low for your payout here - try setting it to 1.5x payout and see what happens to the volume.

Thanks for the feedback caurmen.

Taking your advice, I've added 2 new LP with less text. I've also included a countdown timer to increase urgency.

I will also increase the bid as suggested.

Try to make the banners with some pictures of some prizes or with the prize you promiss to them, also you can use some quiz angles.

Thanks blackemil. I'm still gather data. When I've determined which headline has the highest CTR, I will use that as the control and add prize images into additional banner design variation.

I've thought of the quiz angle, my concern is the LP size. Bigger file size = low page low time. Thus CTR will drop like a rock.
