"A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week."

- General Patton

One of my most-used quotes ever.

Honestly, a fairly shoddy plan enthusiastically executed now is usually better than a perfect plan executed at some point in the future, too.

Ha. always good to hear a quote from General Patton-- my grandfather actually knew him personally and fought with him, and I got to meet many of his men who all had an imitation of General Patton (they all still loved him). Patton actually had a high pitched, squeaky voice, not a booming, George C Scott voice, yet despite his "handicap" went on to become probably the best American fighting general of all time.

My grandfather, Col. Dan C. Alanis, commanded the 51st Armored Infantry Battalion of the 4th Armored Division, Patton's favorite division in the 3rd Army because of its aggressiveness. If you ever watched the HBO show "Band of Brothers," it was the 4th Armored that relieved the 101st Airborne when they were encircled by the Germans at Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge.

If you ever need a little motivation by reading, check out Patton's famous speech to the 3rd Army delivered before the Normandy landings: http://genius.com/Gen-george-patton-...army-annotated

In any endeavour, luck certainly plays a role. However, with repeat entrepreneurs who have had multiple successes in different industries, it is hard to deny that there is a lot more to their success than sheer dumb luck.

@johna5150 - very cool.

@cmdeal - "I think luck is the sense to recognize an opportunity and the ability to take advantage of it. The man who can smile at his breaks and grab his chances gets on." - Samuel Goldwyn
