Working Direct with the Advertiser?
I was in the middle of scaling an offer on one of my networks and it got paused.
I contacted the advertiser direct and they're interested in working with me and are willing to offer a higher payout.
Does anyone have any experience running direct?
Is there anything I need to be careful of?
Any suggestions are welcome

Only thing that sucks is that they usually pay net 30 meaning you have to wait 2 months to get paid. Makes shit hard when your down 20k in revenue and waiting for 40k for example...

@polar: Sorry man, I don't know what you mean. Can you please clarify?
@vidivo: Well shit - if that's all they can offer then there's no way I can work with them. Cash-flow is way too important at this stage for me. Hopefully they're willing to work something out.

Working direct is great, if you have the cash flow. They generally have much slower payment terms than with networks.

I have run with a few advertisers directly. All positive experiences. I have always made sure I chatted to networks and asked about their experiences with the advertiser before I went direct.
I've also been able to go weeklies by go direct, everything is negotiable.
If the advertiser wants to stay on net 30 and you are having cash flow probs, then split your traffic with networks (let the advertiser know you are doing this).

When you run campaigns direct just keep in mind: networks are there to cover non-payments of merchants. Utilize smart risk/cost analysis and don't float out your entire fortune to the same person, because it is infact unsecured debt. I hear stories all the time of publishers running direct and getting burned - you carry far less leverage than a network does to get paid.
As a network, I've lost millions to extending float. I'm not saying it's right or wrong - I'm just saying it's something you need to consider when running traffic direct.

SO I can say this. I am waiting for a sum of money because I went direct WITH OUT TERMS. I don't know why I did it I was just excited I guess.
There MID got shut down and now I'm "going to get paid" when it gets released.
It was my own fault. It was my first time sending traffic and I was after the knowledge. Well I guess I got some

You should get some insurance offers back up and running then man. I've got tons of volume just waiting
Thanks for the advice!

Being worried about this is exactly what has held me back from going huge directly with an advertiser, though I have had good luck on a very limited small scale. > $1000/week rev

While cashflow is an issue I'd stick with networks. In fact, I'd recommend rotating between networks too to ensure if one doesn't pay on time or at all you don't get into trouble.
Also, before going direct make sure that you can do volume sustainably. If its a flight by night campaign maybe hold off.

Thanks for the advice man, yeah it's a really awkward stage right now for my business as it's being held back from cash-flow rather than profitable campaigns. But I guess it's something everyone has to go through when getting into it.

I had the interesting experience of running an international dating campaign through various networks for a while at a decent ROI. Then the offer disappeared from the networks so I went direct, and saw that my traffic was actually pretty shit quality...No wonder they pulled it from the networks!
