Hey guys just want to get some feedback on an idea I'm considering building.
Many newbie I noticed have hard time getting their first VPS setup and get hosting ready. VPS is also pretty expensive so I was thinking of launching a freemium service that provide turnkey landing page hosting. Users just upload the landing page folder and they will get back a link ready to have traffic sent to. They won't have to pay until their lander is starting to get significant traffic. And even then it will be a small nominal fee for hosting it.
Anyone think this could be useful?
fully managed VPS start at like $50 a month. unmanaged VPS start at $5....if those are too expensive, they probably don't have a strong enough budget to be running traffic. maybe some newbs would chime in though?
Try it and see how many people sign up. There really is not much downside for you to market test this for a month or so. There are several other players who do this, so you should offer some sort of compelling use case for your service versus other however.
know anyone off the top of your head who does this?
My thoughts is more of ease of use. setting up apache php and ftp might be an hassle which some newbies might not want to spend time figuring out.
Try to describe your service on Fiverr and see how it sells
Lots of free CDN services out there, not to mention shared hosting is a few bucks and cloudflare is free.
