STM Meet Up in Shenzhen?

Any STM’ers going to the appflood conference in Shenzhen on the 5th next month? Looks like there is going to be some awesome speakers at the event including the notorious Kokofai and the legendary Green man himself! I was thinking if there is a big group of us we should organize a little meetup somewhere after the conference. Maybe Green already has something in the works? I was thinking we could terrorize ‘Happy Valley’ for a day then meetup for dinner/drinks somewhere afterwards . Any ideas?

Haha from what I was told the event will be attended mainly by the China affiliates. I'm not too sure if other guys will be flying in to Shenzhen but if you guys do, we can definitely hang out there and do an exploration together!

I'm thinking of going. Not sure how long I should stay, as I heard there's not much going on other than shops selling electronics and fakes. Lol.

easyest way to go to hk and take the train to shzenzhen i guess? i doubt i have any direct flights to shenzhen , I might go to bangkok maybee has direct to shenzhen.

Shenzhen! What a beautiful city! Been there twice sourcing electronics and only have great things to say about it and it's people!

Oh, those days of getting lost in the gigantic pandemonium of the electronic markets. So much fun for a geek like me

Nightlife is super fun! And smoking is allowed everywhere, felt like heaven to me, haha.

A great way to get there is through Hong Kong, yes, by train, it's easy, cost effective, safe and fast. Be sure to get your visa in your home country as I've seen westerners from some countries struggling to get it in HK.

If you are into gambling, don't forget to give yourself a couple days to visit Macau. It's a quick ferry from HK. It's also very easy to fly to other of the big cities in China.

This may have been the case 20 years ago.

that being said, HK island is only 45 minutes away BY SUBWAY and most people will be able to get in without a visa. Shenzhen itself has its fun parts but HK is a whole other world.

Where are you guys staying at? Any recommendations would be appreciated, I have not been to Asia but I am seriously considering going this time. Is airbnb reliable there?

i dont think use airbnb reliable in shenzhen, you should check out booking.com or agoda.com.

You can get visa at the airport on arrival i think for hungary, i would make a call to the Chinese embassy in Hungary to check to be sure .

Can't believe it's been over a week since the meetup! I must say it was a really well organised event, enjoyed meeting everyone at Shenzhen and then bouncing to Macau. I'm booked for ASW15, can't wait to be back in Vegas and this time for my first ASW! (previous few times were mainly focused on partying, chasing girls).

Some highlights of my Shenzhen/Macau trip include:
- Being my first time in China!
- Discussing problems I encounter with other Affiliates, which allowed me to see things in a different way.
- Putting some faces to the names I have seen on the forum.
- Avoiding sharing a massage with Angry Russian!
- I didn't take may pics, but here's a good one. It's always a nice touch when you get to meet your meal face to face!

Ya, it would be pretty sick to watch speeches from supeyrio, The Angry Russian, kokofai, and Mr Green. Hopefully those were recorded.
