Mobile App Install Questions.

Just a few random mobile app install questions for anyone who knows...

1) My understanding for android app install offers is that people click on our sales banner, and then get redirected to....where exactly?? (Is it the google play app? Google play website? Does the app just start downloading straight away or do they have to initiate it?) And once they've successfully downloaded it then that counts as a conversion?

2) Also does anyone know if international offers (the offers that run across heaps of countries, eg DU Battery Saver) sales page/app install page and the app itself translates to the local language?

For example, i send Brazilian traffic to the DU Battery app install offer which accepts traffic from most countries, will they be sent to the default English page or will they get sent to a Portuguese version? And from there do they download a version of the app in their local language or is there just the one version in English?

Thanks!

Hey man,

I'm no expert but I've ran some app installs campaigns.

1) Yes they are redirected to the Play Store. They see the whole app page with ratings/pictures of the app and etc Normally and in most cases, the conversion fires when they open the app after the download.

2) I'm not sure, I think it does and if not it's most likely in english.

Hope it helps

1) If it direct links to the store then it will open in their browser, the Android phone detects the store link and opens up the Google Play Store app on their phone.

You likely have a mobile device so I'm sure you know what the stores look like - info on app and an install button.

They do not download straight away, that never happens with the App Stores. The conversion point depends on the advertiser. It is often on first open of the downloaded app, not the initial download.

2) The App Store pages do localise based on the users default phone languages but the app description text does not.

You can add "&hl=en" in the Google Play Store URL for example to set the language to English. Your affiliate network will hopefully redirect to an App Store URL that does not have this kind of term in the URL as that would force the langauge setting regardless of user localisation.

What languages an app has depends on the app. The app developers have to build it in or use text that the phone system can localise. Your best bet is to download and install the app and find this information for yourself.

Thanks Koalah and Zeno,

1) - Ok Cool, sounds similar to iphone (which im familiar with).

2) I just did a little experiment with this using my proxy. When i had the proxy set on Argentina and visited the google play website via a google search the store was in Spanish, however clicking on my affiliate link with my Argentine proxy enabled brings up google play in English. I've hit up my AM about this so hopefully they'll have an answer.

I couldn't find any "&hl=en" in my google play affil link, however the app does come in like 20 different languages, so hopefully it's different on mobile phones and the pages all open in Spanish.

I'd download it however i've got an iphone :/

Anyone else have any more suggestion about this?
