how to use *device* call in hindi translation?

Hi,

So I'm pasting my 1ht translation for hindi, and I'm not sure about calling the 'model' param from Voluum.
because let's say I call the device in a middle of a sentence in hindi it will look like this:

मैंने लिखा है samsung galaxy 3 एक अजीब वाक्य

As you can see that's freaking weird. In hebrew which I speak it wouldn't make much sense, but calling the model generally increases cr by quite a bit.

What's your take on this? Would you use it like the above example or give up the 'model' call altogether?

I googled and saw an example from here

मैंने कल iphone खरीदा | (maine kal iphone khareedaa) = I bought an iphone yesterday.
Seems like they do use the word iphone written in english in the middle of the sentence.
mm I'd still like to hear your thoughts on this

I wouldn't translate anything to Hindi. Only half of the country speaks Hindi and less than half of those can actually read it.

I think it is safe to assume that if someone from India is online, then he/she is quite comfortable with English.

ps. If you still want to go ahead, there is nothing wrong with calling the device in English.

Yes, you are right. I think English is better understood than Hindi in India overall by Internet users. So I think there is not real benefit translating English content to Hindi.

Language targeting on phones can make a huge difference. When you target people who have their phone set to Hindi then obviously they can read it - and probably prefer it. It will reduce the size of your demo but just see it as another targeting option.

thanks for the advice. I split tested both hindi and english, got 0 conversions on both tests but the ctr was much higher on all english LP's so I guess you're right they're more comfortable with english

Out of english or hindi, I would suggest to go for english but the situation could be different for other regional languages.

In any case, you'll probably find that trademarks and company names like Samsung, Apple, and models like iPhone, Galaxy, etc. are not localised unless that company operates with localised names in their base of operations.

For example, check out the Samsung page in Finnish - http://www.samsung.com/fi/consumer/mobile/smartphone

I looked at Apple's site and the iPhone was never translated, only some parts were, e.g. codes/sizes after the device name.
