It's not about the fine, of course they can handle it, it's about the future and what it means for their business. They are under a microscope now, they will be scrutinized on everything they do from now on.

Just run outside of the USA! Casinos do fine and dandy even though they are forbidden in the U.S.

The fine is not the issue the shit the FTC makes you sign saying you wont do X,Y,Z or straight up bans you from a specific industry is the problem. Then the next time they come after you its for civil contempt which carries prison time.

Well, the worst case is that they issue an international warrant for your arrest, and you make sure you don't step foot on either U.S. soil or any country that has an extradition treaty with the U.S. (which is most of the developed and developing world)

I know someone who worked in billing support for the "I know that girl" website.
Some people actually threatened to sue because they did not know any of the girls...

Haha, if they enter this year's Loebner Prize competition, they will be able to pay off a small part of their fine.

nothing is changing. smart companies like GP Media (Fling, Meetlocals, Instabang, Snapsext, etc. ) already have real female users in their database who are incented to chat with new members.

Is this the first time the FTC have investigated a dating company for fake profiles? I know there was the Cupid thing caused by a media circus but I don't think that was ever investigated externally. Pretty concerning for anyone in the casual dating vertical.

Not just casual dating, this is just hearsay, but I've heard Badoos rise to fame was through fake profiles
