Would love to pick your brains on how to do this effectively, or identify when an agency is doing it poorly.

who are the people u are pitching to? the owners of the company? or marketing managers who do not actually have a share of the company? its quite different

Mainly marketing managers. Owners are generally 100% focused on ROI, as they should be.
