Hi to all STeaMers,
This is my first case study post on STM, and about my recent winning campaign on Mobile marketing.
With the googly inputs of so many online experts, I too had started AM long back but was inactive due to my crazy interest deviations.
I started my money hunt mainly in 2005 when I first ventured into stock market in India, hit huge highs and huge blows too.
Changed my Job, hit high and low there too. Started into wordpress plugins development, affiliate marketing, datafeedr sites, amazon sites lol what not, a lot of junk adsense sites too.
With my personal ethics and policies issues I never ventured into pxxx or dating ever.
Again in 2011 I started developing mobile games for WIndows Phone, Android and IOS too.
Developed few 10-15 games, published them with the intention of making high, but lol, I am not good at self marketing, or was afraid of spending high on my own games.
Again recently when I came across few mobile case studies on antivirus / sweepstakes and it hit me strongly.
With so called general advice by fellow members of Fixers, I too signed up for Decisive, Mobicow, Buzzcity and put my money in them to see the shit happen.
Decisive : $40 went in hole
Buzzcity : $40 went in hole
Mobicow : $20 went in hole
Lot of people here may say that just with tens you cannot say the network is shit, but my criteria says for a mobile ad to prosper, one has to follow a simple rule of 1-10-100, by my experience with mobile game development, advertising and user acquisition guidelines.
Again I went back to square one, started homework on my campaigns, demographies, games/apps and the ratings in those demographies, what type of offers are a hit in those demographies etc, and came up with my own set of rules.
1. Always pick a offer that has atleast 50x the cpc bid price of your adnetwork.
2. Always pick a offer that has high ratings by local people and is doing in top 500s.
3. Always pick a offer that has lowest epc in your network.
4. Always pick a offer that nobody is running, or even your affiliate manager has to say 'Wait I will seach and tell you'.
With my rules set, I logged into my adnetwork 'STARTAPP' and created a test campaign to see what is the cpc bid for the country X , it was $0.01.
So I selected a offer in my AffNetwork 'APPLIFT' that pays atleast min of $0.5 and selected a offer that has a higher payout.
Then went back to 'APPANNIE' to see the ratings, for that type of Apps, went to Google Play to see what is the count of downloads and what is the rating.
For my luck, everything was as per my rules,
I created the Campaign with exact same bid price of $0.01 on the adnetwork and hit it , and for 2 runs for 7 days each, here is the update and final screen of my payout from my network.
Just hit the $400 mark perfectly.

1) What is pid price?
2) Makes sense
3) Most people say choose an offer with a high EPC. Why do you choose to go with the lowest?
4) Again, most affs advise to do the opposite and go with what's proven successful. Please explain your logic here.
Thanks
Sorry for the Type,
1. Its not pid price, its cpc BID
2.
3. Its to keep my competition low.
4. Same as above.
Being a Mobile Game Developer myself, I attack the problem in a unique way thats all.
Just my simple reason is that I dont want to spend thousands in testing the waters.
What I do is
1. Spend for Ist 100 Clicks in banner ads for the app/game.
2. If the CTR is more than 8-10% then continue else stop.
3. If there is atleast 1 conversion within 100 clicks then continue, else stop.
I am not bothered what payout the app/game has in the network, but only bothered about the cpc bid and ctr and conversions.
The same applies to $0.5 payout offer and same rule applies to even a $20 payout offer.
This way I keep my losses less.
Intresting, i like that plan, i will try it out
1 and 2 are sensible but I don't agree with 3 and 4.
Has this approach worked for you regularly? The reasoning behind 3 and 4 is haphazard at best.
I'm not sure where this 8-10% CTR comes from either, that's huge for mobile. At 8-10% CTR you could make almost anything profit.
Well I'm 100% sure that my ways are right, Dave.
8-10% CTR is required for beginning the campaign, and its slowly going to die out on game/app campaign optimization.
Just reached my $400 goal.
