Hey guys,
Just would like to know do you guys run this kinda stuff on Facebook or any other ad networks : http://mashable.com/2011/07/23/oslo-bombing-video-scam/
I always see posts like you want to get as dirty as you can to make more money, do you guys mean something like this?
One question though, we literally can't make significant of money in this game by doing the legitimate way?
I'm just asking and would like to hear your thoughts.
Thanks!
Cheers
I'm not sure what posts you're referring to about getting as dirty as you can.. but it probably means more like rolling your sleeves up and just diving in and working hard until you learn and make things work, not so much using shady marketing strategies.
In the example url you provided, that is just an extremely creative idea some marketer used to target a short term incident that had alot of interest by those in that particular region.
Marketing in general is mostly about the skill of psychologically manipulating your target audience and influencing them to participate or take action on whatever your ultimate goal is, such as buying something, opt-in, branding a message, etc.
There is always a legitimate way and an shady way to do things.. the techniques are usually very similar, its the angle of approach that is wrong.
For example.. I'm in Chicago right now and I've been to numerous cafe's and places that only accept cash, no credit card to order the food.. there is nothing wrong with that however, we are in the 21st century you would think every business would accept credit cards (atleast in the U.S.) but instead they only accept cash.. why? because these small business then have more control over their accounting, and if they desired, they could easily report less earnings and pay less taxes.
Take the strategy that you see in the url you provided and apply it to a real legitimate situation.
That is not at all what we are doing here.
There is a big difference between being provocative and being deceitful.
Many TV ads and mainstream advertising is pushing the envelope in being provocative - much more so than what will be allowed in online advertising.
