You can make it work on media buys.
The key is to put the offer in front of right audience. That's it.
Ask the vendor if they are willing to put a retargeting pixel on their sales page.
You then control the retargeting list, and your job is to get the visitors to convert. I'm doing this with a diabetes offer at the moment. I met the guy at Clickbank's roadshow meetup in NYC (food was amazing there!).
