First Mobile Campaign Using The Mobile Cookbook Main Course

Hi guys,

I've done quite a bit of revenue on Teespring, and dabbled in PPV, but am really interested in getting in on the mobile craze. I thought that I could dive right in on US adult mobile, but I've realized that's probably not a good idea to start with. I'm going to start with 'The Mobile Cookbook Main Course' as I think I'll learn more and be more successful with this strategy as a mobile newb. I'll be working and updating evenings and weekends. My budget is $1500.

DAY 1:

Already Approved at Peerfly
Already have server/domain
CPVLab installed and ready to track

Applied to Aff networks:
A4D
CPATrend
F5 Media
Adsimilis
MundoMedia

Applied to Traffic networks:
Decisive
Exoclick
Star Advertising
Trafficjunky

DAY 2:

Accepted at Adsimilis
Accepted at Decisive, Trafficjunky, Exoclick

Requested non-US pin submit/app install offer with a payout under $10 running at high volume from Adsimilis AM (Said he'll get it to me. Waiting on that)

Looking for offers w/ payout under $10 available at both Peerfly and Adsimilis. Not having any luck so far.

QUESTIONS: Should I be looking at EPC or just Payout? Is Peerfly a good aff network for mobile offers? I have a full time day gig, do you think I should outsource ads and landers?

Would love any tips/adivce you guys have.

You're off to a good start.

Payout is just one part of the puzzle. Arguably EPC is a more practical metric but depends a lot on the traffic source, who's sending traffic and their campaign, etc.

Ideally you want an offer that has a relatively low barrier to conversion - PIN submits usually have high payouts but this is commensurate with their lower conversion rates.

Can't really comment on Peerfly since I am not a member but they are a reputable network.

I wouldn't outsource at the beginning, you really need to know how to make landers/banners yourself and what you want from these before you can tell someone else what to do... much like trying to teach a class a subject you have no experience in, it just won't work well.

These creative elements are one of the strongest weapons in your arsenal as an affiliate marketer, master them at least in concept so you can offload the execution later.

Thanks for the advice Zeno! Noted.

Still waiting on other Aff networks' approval. Mundo contacted me today asking availability to chat. So hopefully they approve me soon. No word back from any other Aff networks. Going to apply to a few more tonight. Anybody suggest good mobile aff networks other than:

A4D
CPATrend
F5 Media
Adsimilis
MundoMedia

UPDATE:

DAY 3
Just applied to Ad Attraction, Above All Offers, and Profit Kings Media
Sent follow up on STM and email where possible.

Applied for Adult Dating offer I found on both Peerfly and Adsimilis.

Payout Adsimilis - € 0.80

Peerfly EPC: $0.18

Erovie! Erotic Adventures for Demanding Singles!

DAY 4:

Now approved at Peerfly, Adsimilis, CPA TREND, MUNDOmedia, and A4D
Loaded Traffic Junkie account with $230 (to start)
Approved for EROVIE 30+ (MEXICO) Dating Offer on Peerfly, Adsimilis, and CPATrend.

Mobile Cookbook Progress:
1. Choose an offer - Payout below $10, non-US, popular, available on as many networks as possible (DONE)
2. Create 15 angles for the offer. Pick 2. (DONE)
3. Create banners and 1 landing page for each angle picked. (2 LANDERS RIPPED/MODIFIED/SENT OUT FOR TRANSLATION)

Have ripped several and download several adult gifs from reddit. Will modify/create 10 banners ready for tomorrow evening.

Any tips/advice on my list of angles? Are these shit? Too general?

Solid list, go go testing!

10-30-2014 07:10 AM #7 biggiant (Member)

Thanks zeno! Picked out top 2. I've ripped 8 banners, 3 landers, and 7 fresh adult gifs from Reddit. Loading up the landers in dream weaver right now to modify!

DAY 5:

Got back translated LP copy
Waiting on Banner Copy
Setting up tracking. A little confused w/ CPVlab. Figuring it out.

Question: Do I simply add &s2 (or ?s2) to the offer URL (which is my affiliate link?) in CPVlab?

Did I do this right (See pic)?

Out of town this weekend. Will try to knock out the LPs and Tracking tonight and start running traffic on Monday.

Yeah CPV Lab auto-appends the click ID so you want the URL to end with ...something=

Query strings start with a ? and keys are separated by &

So if your URL doesn't yet have a ? that declares the start of query string data, you would put ?something=

But if there are already terms there e.g. blahblah?c=1234&a=4678 then you would add the extra one with &something=

So, your current setup looks fine.

Disclaimer: I don't use CPV Lab

This is really helpful! Thanks zeno!

Ok. Had a short break over the weekend there as I was in Vegas. Back at it tonight:

DAY 6:

UPLOADED 9 BANNERS TO TRAFFIC JUNKY (Waiting on approval):

ATTEMPTED LP SETUP, BUT RAN INTO PROBLEMS. WILL WORK ON THIS TONIGHT AND TOMORROW.
--LP 1 HAS BEEN TRANSLATED TO SPANISH, BUT SOMETHING MESSED UP WHEN I SAVED IT AS PHP. IT'S ERRORING OUT INSTEAD OF GOING THROUGH THE QUESTIONS.

RIGHT NOW I AM ONLY DIRECT LINKING BETWEEN 2 NETWORKS (THE OFFER IS DOWN ON THE 3RD ONE. PEERFLY - GLAD I CHECKED).

QUESTION: IS IT EVEN WORTH RUNNING TRAFFIC WITHOUT THE LPs SETUP?

I believe that I have a lot more work to do on this campaign before it's ready to go. My main hold up is the language barrier. I might just put this offer on hold and go with an English offer. I've realized that the only reason I picked this one was because it was available on each of the first 2 networks I was accepted into. Now that I am part of a few more I am going to look for an English offer. One of my AMs has informed me of a Canadian MILF offer with good volume.

11-04-2014 08:05 AM #12 zeno (Administrator)

FIX THE LANDING PAGES FIRST.

Sorry, couldn't help myself haha.

If you picked the offer randomly you should ask your AM for some info on it, it could be a dud.

11-07-2014 07:09 AM #13 biggiant (Member)

DAY 10:

Killed the Erovie MX offer.
Running with CA Milf offers - Split testing between 3 networks and 5 offers.
2 LPs up, tested, and working
18 Banners uploaded to TJ focusing on 2 angles + brand banners from the offer's company (waiting on TJ approval)

Can't wait to start some traffic!

QUESTIONS:
1) Should I be splitting the traffic 50/50 between direct link and landing pages?
2) How the hell do I test a conversion on Cake? Been trying and I can get the click, but not sure how to test the conversion.
3) Is there a guide at setting up the offer link for Profit Kings Media? Their links are dif than the rest (eg. hxxp://www.pkmtrax.com/click.track?CID=xxxxxx&AFID=xxxxx&ADID=xxxxx&SID - Is the SID the same as s2 as far as tracking in CPVLab goes? Or do I need to tag something onto the end of that offer link?

11-07-2014 01:17 PM #14 caurmen (Administrator)

1) Yep, that's a good idea initially.
2) You can ask your AM to fire a test conversion if the Cake setup doesn't have an automatic test button (not sure if all Cake installs do).
3) Have you asked your Profit Kings AM? That'd be the obvious first step.

Hope that helps!

Definitely helpful caurmen. Thank you!

Alright guys. One more question before I unpause the ads and get rolling.

QUESTION: How do I pass mobile data (handset, ISP/Carrier, etc...) into CPVLab? Do I need to do anything in Traffic Junky or at Affiliate platform?

Thank you in advance!

DAY 11

Got mobile tracking setup correctly in CPVLab
Started Traffic From TJ @ $30/day
9 Ads running on Pornhub Footer (Some were not approved. Going to make more and upload tomorrow - WAS IT A BAD MOVE TO START TRAFFIC WITHOUT ~20 BANNERS?)
Traffic split between 2 LPs and 3 direct links (from 3 dif networks)
28 clicks tracked, -100% ROI (I know it doesn't matter at this point, but what can I say... I'm excited!)

Will update again tomorrow after 24 hours of traffic.

Just got 1st conversion (after stats below were uploaded).

DAY 13

Hi guys. Here are my campaign stats so far (attached screengrabs). Is this enough data to make any decisions?

Right now I'm considering killing all ads except bored7, bored2, and bored3. I have a whole new batch pending review right now as well. They'll be approved tomorrow.

I'm also considering killing the Adsimilis offer as it doesn't have any conversions.

NOTE: I just started the profit kings offer a few minutes ago because I wasn't sure about the s2= thing. But it tracks just fine so now I'm running it.

The newest CPV Lab should track this data for you provided you have the required databases uploaded.

I would keep only the CPAtrend and PKM offer at this point in time.

But I wouldn't cull landers yet, and I'm not sure what you're reasoning is for keeping just the bored2/3/7 ads?

Bored2/7 are clearly doing well but not 3 compared to others, and you don't have enough conversion data to confidently kill many ads yet - maybe let them go a little longer and kill those with 0/1 conversion if the bored2/7 continue to pull away.

How do the ad effective CPCs stack up?

Thanks Zeno!

The new CPVLab does indeed capture the mobile stats. It was a problem on my VPS config that the VPS provider fixed for me.

I was looking at total clicks when considering killing the banners. I actually ended up culling the ones I said I was thinking about, but then turned everything back on when I read your advice.

I also uploaded another batch of banners and have A4D, PKM, and CPATrend running. Here are my current stats. A bit skewed now because I paused those ads for a bit.

Not sure how to find the effective CPCs. I'm sure the numbers are there in CPVLab. Could you point me in the direction of calculating that metric?
