I am new to mobile so bare with me. I have never heard of this type of ad before. Can someone more familiar with mobile tell me if it is worth playing with (I realize most everything is worth playing with but some are better then others). Here is the description I got from the traffic source:
Redirect
When a user visits a publisher’s site (often a website that does not have a mobile version) that has our redirect code in place, the user will be redirected straight to your site. No ad or click is needed – the user is redirected straight to your site, and you pay for every redirect. We try to match niches/categories too so that the traffic you receive will convert.
This is also called direct navigation (direct nav) traffic.
It is similar to popups/unders in that it gets a person to your page directly without a banner click.
AFAIK it's similar to pops in terms of behaviour/performance so should just be tested in the same way.
