Is anyone else finding that utility app install campaigns are very short lived at the moment?
I can get profitable quite easily but it usually takes me 7-10 days to do the testing. By that point the advertiser has either paused the offer, reduced the payout by 30-40%, had multiple tracking issues or I'm battling other affiliates for a small portion of the network's daily cap. This has happened at least three or four times in the last month or so.
Is this just the nature of utility app installs? Or is my optimisation process too slow? I would usually try to go direct but that doesn't seem to be an option with a lot of the apps.
I would say the optimization process can be cut in at least half, because a lot of CPI's all work with the same styles.
I still know guys doing 4-5 figure days with CPI... but you have to really find something to differentiate yourself from everyone running... the 2 biggest differentiators for me when I ran CPI were traffic sources, and a team to manage the hundreds of camps and ads.
I think it varies amongst apps.
Some apps have been up for months with similar payouts (but yes usually reduced)
Others come and go/adjust payouts and targeting at really fast paces in order to maximize their profits. Mobile apps isn't usually as long term as mobile pin submits/1click offers (subscription).
they are pretty solid in my experience and i run a bit of volume here n there
Thanks for the feedback guys.
Yeah I could definitely speed up the optimisation process now that I have a pretty good idea of what's going to work for a lot of these campaigns. There are a few apps I've been promoting for a while that are stable so they definitely can be long term, but the rest seem to come and go quickly compared to subscription offers.
Would you guys suggest a different traffic source from RTB for CPI offers? Facebook / PPC are more suitable in your opinion?
