How to setup TrafficJunky on Voluum

I am trying to figure out how to setup TrafficJunky with Voluum.

I can't get a list of dynamic parameters from TrafficJunky.

The postback URL looks like this: https://ads.trafficjunky.net/tj_ads_..._id=XXXXXX&cb=[RANDOM_NUMBER]&cti=[TRANSACTION_UNIQ_ID]&ctv=[VALUE_OF_THE_TRANSACTION]&ctd=[TRANSACTION_DESCRIPTION]

I am not sure which values, I should put in [RANDOM_NUMBER], [TRANSACTION_UNIQ_ID] and [TRANSACTION_DESCRIPTION]

Hope there's a nice STM Member who can help me

Best,
Jakob

AFAIK TrafficJunky doesn't have dynamic tokens, so I'm no sure how a postback URL is going to work... unless you can get these values from your campaign somewhere?

Where did you find this postback URL?

I found it at TrafficJunky under Tools -> Conversion Trackers

No dynamic tokens there. And since you're tracking your conversions with Voluum, there's no need to pass the conversions back to the traffic source.

Trafficjunky launched a new interface this week, and they do have a couple of dynamic tokens availible as of now. Haven't used the tokens yet though.

I am curious to know if the new {BanID} Token will be filled in with the ad name, or the generic banner name trafficjunky gives creatives after they are uploaded.
If it does fill in the actual ad name (file name of the uploaded creative) then this will save me, and probably others too, a shitload of time in the future!

In my initial test performed, the token didnt pass the ad name through to Voluum... will test again tonight with live traffic.

Any update on passing the tokens, achrafha?

Ran into a bit of a snag with some of the campaigns I was running on TJ a couple of hours after I posted my comment. Haven't ran any traffic with them since, so I haven't tested the new tokens yet.
If anyone else is running traffic on Tj right now, let us know if you were able to test the new tokens.
Will be restarting my TJ camps in the first week of januari, so I will run some tests then.

Was just about to set-up a new TJ campaign and make use of the new dynamic tokens.

Any word on whether {BanID} does indeed provide the ad-name of the creative rather than a random string of TJ generated numbers?

I'm hoping so otherwise the potential of the bulk uploading feature is seriously wasted.

For anyone wondering I've discovered the answers for this:

{BanID} does indeed refer to the automatic numeric ID assigned by TrafficJunky to a banner upon upload.

I've spoken to TJ tech support and they've said that the lack of support for the actual name of the creative through use of a token has been noted and they are working to implement a solution in the future.

That is a shame. O well, oldschool zombie mode uploading it is...

Hey guys, sorry to be late to the party!
For those that have already been migrated to the new version (or that created an account recently), we do offer tokens now (adid, banid, campaignid,....)

For those of you that are still on the older version, you should be migrated within a couple of weeks!

This is now solved.
BanID does reffer to the internal ID for the image.
AdID referes to the image / spot / Geo combination.

i.e.
Image 1 id = 1234

Image 1 on YP vid A US
BanID = 1234
AdID = 09876
Image 1 on YP vid A CA
BanID = 1234
AdID - 09886
Image 1 on RT vid A US
BanID = 1234
AdID = 09896

In other words, the ban ID will allow you to track which artwork is converting, the ban ID will let you know where you convert.
Both IDs are shown on the ads list for a campaign.

We can use the tokens on old accounts too?
Also, can you post all tokens here so i can update Voluum.

Unfortunately we can't make tokens available on the old version.
As for the new version, the tokens are listed below the click through url box in the banner upload page.
As I said, it shouldn't be long before we migrate the last accounts to the new version!

How can i track conversions with Trafficjunky and Voluum when my network has only the global postback?

06-17-2015 01:10 PM #16 trafficjunky (Member)

I'm no tracking expert, but I would say you should use the TJ tokens to track your Voluum link to the LP.
Then use the voluuum postback url with the offer.
This way you need only one postback url to be implemented with the offer to track all your traffic sources.

which tokens you speak of? im using the first 2 already but how does it track between Voluum and TJ then the conversions?

06-18-2015 07:29 PM #18 trafficjunky (Member)

The Target URL tokens.
In the ad upload step of campaign creation.
You need to "declare" the parameters in Voluum.
Then the information will be passed using the tokens in the url to your landing page (and Voluum).
Then the conversions need to be passed back to voluum that will be able to show you all the stats.

It's still no clear to me, which tokens I have to use for [RANDOM_NUMBER] and [TRANSACTION_UNIQ_ID]?

RANDOM_NUMBER is a cache buster to make sure we don't count twice the same conversion.
The transaction Unique ID is the order ID if there's any so you can link the conversion to the order.

The code will work without these populated, it just make everything more precise.
