Has anyone noticed a difference in CTR for large file sized banners? I have a few gifs that are about 200kb. Usually most of my banners with a flashing button are 20kb max. I have an experiment in mind to test out the same banner but with different file sizes and then plot the CTRs. Since it's really important to have a small sized landing page, does the same apply to banners?
It really depends on how/where the ads are served but usually you'd assume smaller is better.
You also have to consider file type. Carriers can recompress images but don't typically do so to PNGs. http://calendar.perfplanet.com/2013/...recompression/
Caurmen did a short study on the effect of banner size - http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...-happened-next
Thanks Zeno! That thread definitely answered my question! Will definitely split test that variable later on in my optimization process!
Minor follow-up on that - I AM still intending to do more tests on those banner size issues.
Just had other case studies and articles that were more urgent to get done first. But the follow-up will arrive!
