Doing App installs on Facebook ?
Anyone who has been able to make facebook mobile traffic work for app install offers? Have tried lot of countries with lot of banner variations and offers as well, but just cant make it work with cpc/ctr I get.
Would love to hear your thoughts...

It obviously depends on the payout you get, but we were able to scale an app for 1.50 EUR CPI target + commission to 30k installs over three months on iphone devices in Germany.
Main learnings were:
* oCPM worked best for us as a targeting method.
* Some creatives burned out way faster than others. Best performer delivered target KPI over 1.5 months
* Video creatives didn't work at all for us (highlighting the app in action)
* we used different creatives for the iPhone and iPad ones, showing the devices in the creatives, improved the CPI quite a lot.
* Traffic quality for the advertiser was even better than organic traffic - and way, way better than other performance networks. So depending on the install quality, you should often be able to negotiate higher lead prices than on other channels

@isdaron great info, Did you observe click loss as well? I do see 20-30% click loss and that too when my files were hosted on CDN so that spikes up my actual CPC.

I am also running my Android utility offers globally with huge installs on facebook, my tips are better cpa bidding and excellent creatives.
what kind of IOS offers are you running?

What kind of CPC/CTR do you need for 1.50 eur installs? I can't understand how it would work at large scale.

Are you bidding on actions with oCPM or using CPA for link clicks?
CPA for installs would be great of course but not as useful for affiliates.

@vipinext: I'm not sure what you mean with click loss in this case: The landing page was the iTunes store, and that wouldn't report the "arrived" clicks. So I got essentially a Click2Install ratio of Facebook reported clicks against the installs reported via our tracking tool. In this case we partnered directly with the publisher of the app, so it wasn't a traditional affiliate deal - we had access to the adjust.io reports, and they hook into the FB SDK for mobile to pull the reported installs. If you mean by click loss a click loss from Facebook reports to e.g. Cake/Voluum/hasoffers, then we didn't use FB app installs in that context yet.

Here's a sample report for one of the ads that we used.

Use page link posts and treat it like any other offer you would run.
Exception: during ad creation and approval, have your tracking system direct clicks to a pre-lander (just something simple) that has a CTA that then takes them to the app store. Change to direct-linked after ALL approval and ad creation is finished. This will prevent FB from automatically converting the advert to direct-to-store, which removes your tracking system and affiliate link from the loop.

Yeah, when you have direct deal with the app you can simply push app install ads but with affiliate offers we are bound to chose website click ads, there am experiencing 30% click which is huge for me atm.
BTW thanks for your input Buddy!

It looks like your CPC is 0.46 EUR what means almost 50% CVR to installs. Good figures!

Yes, I agree - what's also amazing is the traffic quality of well-targeted Facebook ads driven app installs. They've even beaten organic traffic out of the water for a number of apps I've seen.

According to data from Fiksu, Facebook on average provides higher lifetime value users to apps compared to display/video channels. Something like 50% higher purchase rates and 20% lower costs per active purchasing user.
